About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action RPG about V's life and choices in Night City. Missions support different combinations of direct combat, stealth, technical interaction, and hacking. A useful build turns those options into a sequence you can repeat, rather than a collection of powerful-looking abilities that require incompatible resources or equipment.
This wiki focuses on the current design's broad systems and practical preparation. It does not promise a permanent best weapon or a universal perk order. Use the official build planner to inspect choices, then test them against the situations you regularly encounter. Keep Phantom Liberty-specific advice separate when your installation or character has not reached that content.
01 / THE GUIDE
Choose the action that defines the build
Decide how you want a typical encounter to begin and end. A stealth pistol approach, a mobile close-range fighter, and a quickhack-led setup ask for different investments. Read the relevant attribute and perk requirements before spreading points across several trees, then identify a useful backup for the situation your preferred method handles badly.
Use the official planner to explore a direction before spending resources. A completed example build can explain how perks, cyberware, and weapons reinforce one another, but it may assume levels or expansion features you do not yet have. Plan the next useful step for your present character instead of judging it against an endgame demonstration.
- Describe the main combat sequence in one sentence.
- Check prerequisites before planning a perk combination.
- Keep a backup that answers a different engagement range.
02 / THE GUIDE
Scan the area and budget quickhack resources
Use the scanner to gather information before entering a hostile space. Identify visible enemies, cameras, and useful devices, then decide which information source threatens your approach. A quickhack plan needs both an intended effect and enough resources to continue after the first target; read RAM costs and the conditions attached to each hack.
Do not assume every hack is equally quiet or that an older video describes the current interaction. Watch the interface for tracing and other consequences, and keep a route out of the area if your position becomes compromised. Hacking becomes more dependable when you understand the sequence and its resource recovery rather than selecting every available option at once.
- Scan before crossing an exposed entrance.
- Read a quickhack's current cost and description.
- Plan a fallback if the first hack does not end the encounter.

03 / THE GUIDE
Control sightlines, patrols, and escape routes
For stealth, watch a patrol complete its movement before committing to a crossing or takedown. Check where another enemy or camera can see the destination, not only the position where you start. Move bodies away from a route when that matters to your approach, and pause when the information you relied on changes.
For direct combat, choose cover and a useful engagement range before the first burst. Reload, heal, and activate limited abilities from positions that reduce incoming pressure. Mobility can create an advantage, but moving without checking the next sightline can trade one threat for several others. Finish by checking for remaining danger rather than immediately opening every container.
- Inspect the far end of a stealth route before moving.
- Keep an exit from the room you are entering.
- Use a different angle when the current cover stops being safe.
04 / THE GUIDE
Make cyberware and weapons support the same rhythm
Read what a cyberware piece changes and which resource or condition it depends on. Compare the operating-system choice with the abilities you expect to use, then inspect capacity and requirements before planning several upgrades. An attractive effect that changes the build's available actions may require more than replacing one item.
Choose weapons by their handling, range, and interaction with your perks. Test a familiar encounter after changing an important component and compare survival as well as damage. Keep a reliable backup until the revised setup can handle pressure; selling the old arrangement before understanding the replacement removes a useful point of comparison.
- Check operating-system compatibility before copying a build.
- Compare capacity and requirements at the upgrade screen.
- Test a new weapon at the range where you intend to use it.
05 / THE GUIDE
Use side work to support the next character goal
Group nearby gigs, vendors, and other activities around an upgrade or story destination. If the goal is to test a stealth setup, choose a manageable job where you can observe patrols rather than immediately entering an unfamiliar major encounter. Decide what the trip is meant to provide before filling the inventory with another collection of marginal equipment.
Read mission messages and journal context before a major commitment. Optional activities can develop the character while leaving room for discoveries, but clearing every map icon is not a prerequisite for continuing the story. Check the official release notes when an interface, vehicle feature, or perk description differs from a guide recorded for another version.
- Choose one upgrade or mission goal for the current district.
- Use a manageable gig to test a major build change.
- Separate Phantom Liberty requirements from base-game planning.
