About ZEPHON
ZEPHON drops players into a shattered Earth where humanity, alien forces, and rogue machines vie for survival. Players guide survivors through city building, turn‑based tactical battles, research, and diplomatic intrigue, choosing between the Voice, ZEPHON, or Human paths. The game blends RPG storytelling with deep strategy and supports both solo and multiplayer experiences.
The world is divided into six climate zones filled with mutated wildlife, deformed woodlands, and abandoned technology. Every decision—from settlement placement to research choices—feeds a branching narrative that determines whether humanity, machines, or horrors will dominate the ruined planet.
01 / THE GUIDE
Turn‑Based Combat
Combat unfolds on the main map without a separate battle screen, letting players command over 50 distinct units, each with its own graphics, voice‑overs, weapons, traits, and abilities. Players arrange build orders across three asymmetric paths—Human, Voice, and Cyber—or combine them for varied tactics.
Multiplayer battles feature leader abilities and allow deployment of interference protocols, otherworldly hymns, or nuclear weapons. The system emphasizes planning over auto‑resolution, keeping engagements strategic and immersive.
- Experiment with mixed‑path unit compositions to discover unexpected synergies.
- Use leader abilities early to shape the battlefield before opponents react.

City Management
Settlements grow from modest bases into sprawling metropolises by constructing buildings on tiles, each requiring space and fitting one of three architectural styles tied to the chosen path. Players manage an empire‑wide economy using eleven tiered resources, allowing specialization based on city placement.
Strategic points can be fortified to deter enemy assaults, reinforcing the notion that sometimes defense is the best offense. Visual distinction of each building aids players in recognizing functional zones across their expanding empire.
- Prioritize resource‑rich tiles when placing new cities to boost specialization.
- Fortify choke points early to reduce the need for costly defensive rebuilds later.

World Exploration
Players traverse a shattered Earth featuring six climate zones, each populated with unique terrain features such as flesh trees, microchip factories, traveling sandstorms, and erupting volcanoes. The world generation can be tuned, producing cliffsides, ruins, and deformed woodland inhabited by mutated wildlife and expanding NPC factions.
Exploration rewards include eliminating packs of mutated animals for caches, capturing outposts, and expanding influence one turn at a time, encouraging methodical expansion across the map.
- Scout diverse climates early to locate rare terrain that may support specialized city builds.
- Exterminate animal packs to collect the caches full of rewards they leave behind.

Research & Technology
The tech tree offers over 150 technologies across ten tiers, covering units, buildings, operations, weapons, abilities, and passive bonuses. Visual upgrades appear on unit models, ranging from regular to titanic forms equipped with cruise missiles, tunneling nails, and deflector shields.
Tooltips and an in‑game compendium provide exact modifier numbers, allowing players to plan upgrades without external references.
- Review the compendium before committing to a tier to ensure the upgrades align with your strategic focus.
- Balance unit upgrades with building research to maintain economic stability.

Diplomacy & Negotiation
Diplomatic encounters let players role‑play with AI opponents, each possessing distinct likes and dislikes. Through negotiations, players can forge peace, trade agreements, alliances, or sow discord among rivals. Factions such as ZEPHON, Acrin, and Reaver provide additional layers of interaction.
Branching events and leader‑specific quest chains shape the broader narrative, offering permanent rewards upon completion and shaping the broader narrative of humanity’s survival.
- Observe AI preferences early to tailor offers that are more likely to be accepted.
- Leverage quest rewards to strengthen diplomatic leverage in later negotiations.
