About ZED ZONE
ZED ZONE drops you into a harsh post‑apocalyptic world where you must scavenge, craft, and defend against a variety of mutated enemies. Survival hinges on building a fortified base, customizing weapons, and developing a personal skill tree while a loyal dog companion aids exploration and combat.
The game blends action, RPG progression, and simulation in a single‑player experience with full controller support and Steam Workshop integration. Players shape their approach through weapon mods, base construction, mercenary hires, and the extensive skill system.

Enemy Types
ZED ZONE features a roster of hostile entities, each described with distinct flavor text. The Juggernaut is a pack‑behavior infected living in symbiosis with its host, while the Breaker is noted as extremely destructive, unstable, aggressive, and short‑tempered.
Other documented foes include the Fan Blade mutant with artificial augmentation, the Army Zombie that mocks an empty magazine, the Flamethrower Zombie, the Firefighter Zombie, the Spider Robot, the War Machine, and a Giant Mutant Lizard.
- Read each enemy description to anticipate whether it favors melee or ranged attacks.
- Plan defensive structures that address both aggressive melee foes and explosive mechanical units.

Gun Modding System
Four attachment slots—barrel, sight, stock, and shell collector—are available for weapon customization. Over 40 attachments, such as scopes, night‑vision scopes, thermal sights, suppressed barrels, muzzle suppressors, tactical stocks, and a Christmas‑exclusive shell collector, can be installed.
Players may mix and match these parts to alter weapon handling and performance, creating a personalized combat setup.
- Combine a suppressed barrel with a tactical stock for quieter, steadier fire.
- Add a night‑vision or thermal scope if you expect low‑light encounters.

Base Construction & Production
Base development progresses from simple shelters to functional strongholds using wells, furniture, storage containers, furnaces, and workbenches. More than ten electrical facilities—including generators, refrigerators, electric fences, and energy storage modules—allow you to re‑introduce electricity.
Defensive options include wood and metal spike traps, electric fences, various landmines, homemade barrel bombs, and automated turrets such as machine‑gun, Tesla, laser, and crossbow variants.
- Place spike traps before electric fences to create layered protection.
- Reserve high‑damage turrets for choke points where enemies converge.

Skill System
The skill system is divided into three major categories—Melee, Firearms, and Fitness—with six progression directions covering blades, spears, crossbows, firearms, and more. Over 20 progression paths and 60+ individual skills let you craft a unique build.
Skills are unlocked via the PDA terminal, which also provides active combat tools such as Grapple, CAS System, Focused Laser Cannon, and Western Gunslinger for situational use.
- Focus early on one category to unlock deeper specialization later.
- Use PDA‑based combat tools when facing enemies that resist your primary weapon type.

Dog Companion
A loyal dog joins your party, assisting with exploration, watch duties, and combat. The dog requires feeding, injury treatment, and occasional pats to stay effective, as described in the companion care notes.
Customizable equipment includes collars, vests, and saddlebags, each said to have a functional purpose. Training the dog enables it to follow commands and become a reliable teammate in early and later stages.
- Keep the dog fed and treat injuries promptly to maintain its assistance.
- Equip a collar or saddlebag to give the dog additional utility.
