About WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition
WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition puts you in the role of a gray wolf roaming Yellowstone’s Northern Range. After leaving your natal pack you must hunt, explore, find a mate and eventually build a family that can survive the wild.
The world features dynamic day/night, weather and seasonal changes across meadows, sagebrush steppe, alpine forests and high ridges. Rival packs, bears, cougars and coyotes compete for territory and food while realistic herds of elk, moose and deer migrate through the year.
01 / THE GUIDE
Life Cycle & Pack Formation
You start as a lone wolf dispersed from your natal pack, learning to hunt and survive before seeking a mate. Once paired you can form a pack, choose a den, and raise pups by feeding and playing with them until they become adults.
A genetics system records inheritance of eye color, physical and personality traits, and coat color for each new generation. You may end your story on your wolf’s deathbed or select an heir to continue the lineage.
- Observe pup behavior early to gauge feeding needs.
- Compare coat colors across generations to notice genetic inheritance.

Hunting & Prey
Hunting is central; you can practice on elk, mule deer and moose to learn each animal’s differences and your limits against them. Successful kills provide food for yourself and your pack.
Prey species behave according to the seasons, forming realistic herds that migrate throughout the year. Their seasonal behavior influences hunting opportunities and risk.
- Start with deer to build confidence before tackling elk or moose.
- Watch herd movement patterns to anticipate the best hunting moments.

Territory & Rival Packs
Your pack must claim and defend a territory against rival wolf packs that patrol the landscape. These packs maintain their own areas and will not tolerate intruders, leading to confrontations when boundaries overlap.
Other predators—bears, cougars and coyotes—also contest kills and territories, adding further risk to your hunting and roaming activities.
- Patrol your borders regularly to deter rival packs.
- Use vocalizations to communicate during disputes.

Seasons & Environment
Dynamic day/night cycles, weather and seasonal shifts affect animal behavior and landscape. Elk herds migrate, bucks spar during the autumn rut, and cows give birth, reflecting real seasonal patterns.
These environmental changes influence hunting, breeding and pack movement, requiring you to adapt your strategies throughout the year.
- Plan hunts around the autumn rut, when prey behavior changes.
- Note when cows and does give birth and raise their young each year.

Multiplayer & Co‑op
WolfQuest supports online co‑op where players can raise pups together in a group for one game year, maintain territory jointly, or explore in a sandbox mode without set objectives. Sessions can be public, private or limited to specific groups.
A special 2‑Player Mode lets you build a pack and raise pups year after year until one wolf dies of old age, in a shared experience.
- Coordinate hunting times with your partner to maximize food intake.
- Discuss territory boundaries early to avoid accidental disputes.
