About Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem
In Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem you are one of three survivors rescued by Grand Inquisitor Heimlock and trained in the Republic’s Army of the Purifiers. The narrative follows a retaliation against the Brotherhood of Dawn, culminating in Operation Dawnbane on the Coast of Wrecks near Stormfall.
The game features free character development, a rotative passive skill tree, and unlimited skill customization, all rendered with CryEngine visuals and an eight‑hour orchestral score. Players choose between Story and Normal difficulty, craft gear, and experiment with endless builds in a single‑player experience that supports partial controllers.
01 / THE GUIDE
Free Character Development
Wolcen removes class restrictions; the weapon you equip determines the skill types you can use. Each weapon offers its own stances and combos, allowing you to shape a playstyle without a predefined class system.
The rotative passive skill tree, called the Gate of Fates, contains 21 sub‑class sections. You place passive points wherever they fit your offensive or defensive preferences, creating a custom path that matches your chosen weapons.
- Try several weapon types early to see which combos feel most natural.
- Place passive points that reinforce the strengths of your primary weapon.
02 / THE GUIDE
Resource Opposition System
Combat uses two opposing resources: Rage and Willpower. The Resource Opposition System links them, meaning increasing one typically reduces the other, forcing you to balance offensive and defensive choices.
Stamina is a separate pool used exclusively for dodge‑rolls, which let you evade attacks or move faster. It does not participate in the opposition system, so you manage it independently from Rage and Willpower.
- Watch the resource meters and switch between Rage‑based and Willpower‑based skills to keep both from depleting.
- Reserve stamina for critical dodge‑rolls against high‑damage enemy abilities.

03 / THE GUIDE
Skill Customization
Skills level up using character experience or alternative resources, granting modifier points. These points let you alter damage type, add new functionalities, or completely change a skill’s mechanics.
The system is described as limitless, enabling you to combine buffs, debuffs, and functional changes to craft a unique ability set that fits any build you imagine.
- Focus modifier points on a single skill to create a powerful signature ability.
- Mix damage‑type changes with utility modifiers for versatile builds.

Strategic Combat
Enemies display complex patterns and deadly skills. Successful fights require reading visual markers and anticipating animations, then using dodge‑rolls to avoid lethal attacks.
All characters can shapeshift into one of four Celestial incarnations, each providing four distinct skills and a devastating ultimate, adding another strategic layer to encounters.
- Observe enemy cues closely to time your dodge‑rolls effectively.
- Experiment with each Celestial form to discover which ultimate complements your build.

Endgame and Replayability
After the main campaign you can loot or craft gear, gather resources for rare missions, and tackle advanced challenges that reward special items. The game encourages continual experimentation with new builds.
Difficulty is set via two modes—Story and Normal—affecting campaign toughness. Fashion customization is supported through over 100 dyes and an asymmetric armor system that lets you alter left‑ and right‑side visuals.
- Complete rare missions to unlock exclusive gear and test new builds.
- Use dyes to refresh your appearance and keep the experience fresh.
