About Withering Realms

In 1926, an occult event ended the Great War and reshaped the world. The dead walk, spirits roam, and a few can cast spells. Nine‑year‑old Clover awakens alone in a decaying mansion near the event’s epicenter and discovers she is a ghost.

Together with a strange doll made of wood, metal and human remains, Clover explores Penwyll’s haunted town, graveyards, tombs and ruined estates. Players hunt for treasure, craft weapon modules for the doll’s missing arm, and defeat massive perimeter guardians to expand the map.

01 / THE GUIDE

Clover as a Ghost

Clover awakens alone in a decaying mansion and learns she is a ghost. This narrative premise defines the horror atmosphere of her journey through Penwyll.

The game notes that returning to any area at night reveals new, horrifying creatures and secrets, indicating that night‑time changes affect what the ghost can encounter.

  • Observe how night changes enemy types.
  • Watch for environmental cues that hint at hidden paths.

02 / THE GUIDE

The Doll Guardian

Clover’s only companion is a powerful doll constructed from wood, metal, and human remains. The doll’s missing right arm can be fitted with modules such as an Enchanted Candelabrum, Chain Rock, Machinegun, or Flamethrower.

These modules are described as weapons or tools that players can craft and slot into the doll’s arm, allowing customization of combat while progressing through tombs and estates.

  • Experiment with different arm modules for varied combat.
  • Match module choice to the enemy you face.

  • Prioritize guardians that open larger map sections.
  • Return to newly opened zones after nightfall.

Allies and Investigation

Players can ally with Althea, a daring freelance investigator who will do anything to uncover Penwyll's dark secret, including interrogation, lockpicking and forgery.

Althea’s listed skills provide alternative methods for accessing locked areas or gathering story clues, complementing Clover’s ghost abilities.

  • Use Althea’s lockpicking for sealed doors.
  • Leverage interrogation to gain story clues.
