About Wingspan
Wingspan is a digital adaptation of the award‑winning board game where players act as bird enthusiasts building wildlife preserves. Up to five participants compete over a limited number of turns, adding birds that improve egg laying, card drawing, and food gathering.
The game includes single‑player and multiplayer modes, animated birds with real‑life sound recordings, and multiple ways to score points through birds, bonus cards, and end‑of‑round goals. It runs on Windows and macOS and supports DualShock, DualSense, and partial controller input, as well as cross‑platform multiplayer.

Gameplay Mechanics
Players manage three habitats, each focusing on a different aspect of preserve growth. Adding a bird to a habitat triggers its power, which can enhance egg production, draw extra cards, or provide additional food resources. The game proceeds for a set number of turns, after which points are tallied.
Bird powers reflect real‑world behavior, such as hawks hunting or pelicans fishing. The combination of bird abilities creates engine‑building opportunities, allowing players to chain effects for higher scores.
- Focus on birds that complement each other’s powers to maximize chain reactions.
- Balance habitat development to avoid over‑specializing in a single resource.

Bird Cards
Wingspan includes around 170 unique bird cards, each illustrated and animated. Cards display real‑life sound recordings, adding an auditory layer to the experience. Birds belong to different habitats and have distinct abilities that influence gameplay.
The variety of birds allows multiple strategies, as players can select birds that excel at laying eggs, gathering food, or drawing cards, depending on their overall plan.
- Review bird abilities early to plan a cohesive strategy.
- Use birds with complementary habitats to diversify point sources.
