About WE ARE SO DEAD

WE ARE SO DEAD is a cooperative online séance game for 2‑6 players where one participant starts as a ghost. The ghost can see the demon, hidden dangers, and the locations of ritual relics, but can only communicate through flickering lights and a Ouija board.

The living players must interpret the ghost’s clues, collect relics, and spell the demon’s true name before sunrise. Each floor presents a new demon with hidden rules, and eliminated players join the dead, adding more voices to the séance.

01 / THE GUIDE

Ghost Role

The ghost player cannot be heard by the living and cannot interact with objects, but can see the demon, hazards, and relic locations. Communication is limited to the Ouija board, flickering lights, and occasional screams.

Ghosts also hear the living and any other ghosts, allowing them to coordinate warnings. When a living player dies, they become a ghost, adding another voice to the séance and helping locate relics.

  • Observe the ghost’s light cues for imminent danger.
  • Wait until all relics are collected before reading the demon’s name on the board.

02 / THE GUIDE

Living Player Tasks

Living players navigate the haunted house, avoid unseen threats, and retrieve relics indicated by the ghost. They must bring each relic back to the séance board for the banishment ritual.

Success depends on interpreting the ghost’s yes/no answers or spelled messages, then spelling the demon’s true name on the board once all relics are collected.

  • Move cautiously when the board is silent; danger may be near.
  • Double‑check relic placement before returning to the board.

03 / THE GUIDE

Demon Banishment

Each floor features a different demon whose true name is hidden until all relics are gathered. The ghost can read the name, and the living must spell it back on the Ouija board to banish the entity.

Banishment ends the current floor and unlocks the next, moving the group deeper toward the house’s bottom floor nine.

  • Confirm each letter with the ghost before finalizing the name.
  • Keep the board steady; mis‑spelling can delay banishment.

04 / THE GUIDE

Progression and Floors

The house consists of nine floors, each deeper and longer before sunrise. After banishing a demon, the group descends to the next floor, which contains new relics and a different demon with unique hidden rules.

Each floor offers more time before sunrise, but also new hazards only visible to ghosts, requiring continued coordination between dead and living.

  • Track which floor you are on to anticipate longer daylight windows.
  • Note any pattern in demon behavior across floors.

Online Multiplayer Features

The game supports online co‑op for 2‑6 players, with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud saves, and Family Sharing. Players can join a session, assume ghost or living roles, and communicate via the shared Ouija board.

When a living player dies, they instantly become a ghost, adding their perspective to the séance without needing a new session.

  • Enable Steam Cloud to retain progress across sessions.
  • Use Family Sharing to let multiple household members try the game.
