About Wartide
Wartide is a single‑player Windows title that can run as a tiny always‑on‑top widget or be expanded to full‑screen. Both sizes share a single save, letting you switch whenever you like while the same battle continues.
The game challenges you with 360‑degree enemy waves, lets you evolve vehicle lines from World War II to present‑day tech, and offers a campaign of 14 regions followed by an Outbreak mode where you build turrets and survive massive hordes.

Widget and Full‑Screen Play
You may keep Wartide as a resizable desktop widget that stays on top while you work, browse, or watch other media. The widget runs continuously, allowing the battle to progress without interrupting other tasks.
When the swarm intensifies you can enlarge the view to full‑screen. The transition does not create a new save; progress made in either size is stored in the same file and continues seamlessly.
- Use the widget to monitor the battle while performing other activities.
- Switch to full‑screen for clearer visibility during high‑intensity waves.

Vehicle Evolution Across Eras
The starting roster includes WWII half‑tracks and Shermans. As you advance, eight distinct vehicle families—recon, carriers, tanks, tank destroyers, artillery, air defence, helicopters and jets—become available, each progressing through later historical periods toward modern designs.
Because the army has a fixed unit cap, the choice of which vehicles to field becomes more important than simply fielding many units. New eras add fresh tactical options that can change how you allocate the limited slots.
- Plan early placements to avoid hitting the unit cap too soon.
- Compare the strengths of each vehicle family before committing to a later era.

Commander Abilities and Prestige
Abilities such as artillery barrage, smoke screen and reinforcements become available as you progress, and each gains potency when you prestige by ending a strong run. Prestige also grants new headquarters buildings and additional abilities.
These powers can shift the outcome of all‑out assaults, especially in later eras where player decisions remain essential despite the idle‑friendly automation.
- Deploy smoke screens when enemies close from multiple directions.
- Consider prestige after a solid run to unlock stronger abilities.

Campaign and Outbreak Modes
The campaign map contains 14 regions; conquering each grants lasting bonuses and culminates in a final wave at the capital (wave 150). You can then switch to Outbreak mode, where you construct turrets, defend a shelter, and face thousands of foes.
Both modes are single‑player and support Steam Cloud, ensuring that progress—including campaign advances and Outbreak achievements—is retained across sessions.
- Target region bonuses that complement your current vehicle lineup.
- In Outbreak, prioritize turret placement that covers multiple approach angles.

Micro Conductors and Permanent Upgrades
Each lost run yields Micro Conductors, a currency that can be spent on permanent upgrades. These upgrades persist across both widget and full‑screen play, extending the depth of later runs.
Prestiging a strong run also provides new headquarters buildings and commander abilities, further expanding the options available for future battles.
- Collect Micro Conductors regularly to keep upgrading your base capabilities.
- Prestige when you have enough conductors to maximize the benefit of new upgrades.
