01 / THE GUIDE
Campaign Structure
The main campaign consists of fifteen‑plus linked scenarios that follow the fight against Chaos Lord Zymran and an ancient relic. The scenarios are linked together, forming a connected campaign against Zymran's forces.
At the start you may either begin the plot immediately or first undertake random missions. This choice determines whether you face the campaign with a freshly assembled squad or with experience gained elsewhere.
- Try a few random missions first to see how squad experience affects early campaign difficulty.
- Keep track of which scenario you are on to avoid missing linked narrative events.

Random Missions
Beyond the main storyline, the game generates random missions that award experience and power for your Ultramarine troops. These missions offer a way to gain experience and power for your troops outside the linked scenarios.
Random missions let you test different squad configurations without affecting campaign progress, offering a flexible way to experiment with unit roles and equipment.
- Use random missions to trial unit combinations before committing to the campaign.
- Note the rewards from each mission to plan future squad upgrades.

Squad Customization
You can create and customize a squad from over fifty unique Space Marine units, including Terminators, Assault Troopers, and Devastator Squads. Each unit type brings distinct weapons and tactical roles to the battlefield.
Customization lets you build your force from these unit types, tailoring it to the demands of specific scenarios or personal tactical preferences.
- Mix unit types to balance firepower, durability, and mobility.
- Review each Marine’s weapon options to ensure coverage against both infantry and heavy targets.

Mission Editor
The Classic edition includes a flexible Mission Editor that received stability updates alongside the main game. The tool lets you design custom scenarios using the game's assets and rules.
While the editor now runs more reliably, the release's stability updates apply to it just as they do to the main game.
- Test custom missions in both supported resolutions to verify visual clarity.
- Save frequently while building complex layouts to avoid loss from unexpected crashes.

Vehicle Command
Iconic Warhammer 40,000 vehicles such as Predator tanks, Rhino APCs, Land Speeders, and Dreadnoughts can be commanded alongside your Marine squads, adding heavy firepower and transport capabilities.
Vehicles act within the turn‑based combat system, allowing you to coordinate their attacks with infantry actions for combined‑arms tactics.
- Pair heavy vehicles with Devastator Squads to maximize area‑effect damage.
- Use transport vehicles to reposition vulnerable units safely across the battlefield.
