Factions and Nations
The game features two primary sides representing NATO and the Warsaw Pact, together comprising twelve distinct nations. The twelve nations together make up the game's roster of 750 units, shaping the strategic options available to the player.
The available tanks, aircraft and infantry span the game's twelve nations, giving you many options when building forces for both campaign and multiplayer battles. Recognising each nation’s strengths helps you anticipate opponent capabilities.
- Compare nation unit lists before committing to a side.
- Try short matches with different nations to gauge their playstyle.

Unit Variety
AirLand Battle offers a "phenomenal array" of 750 units, covering tanks, planes, helicopters and infantry. This breadth lets players assemble combined‑arms forces tailored to specific scenarios.
Each unit type brings distinct strengths: armor provides firepower and durability, aircraft add speed and altitude advantage, while infantry offers flexibility in varied terrain. Balancing these elements is essential for battlefield control.
- Mix ground and air units to cover a wider range of threats.
- Use helicopters for rapid troop insertion across large maps.

Battlefield Scale
Maps can reach up to 150 km², providing ample space for strategic maneuvering and long‑range engagements. The new graphics engine renders these vast environments with enhanced visual fidelity.
Large terrain affects line‑of‑sight, travel time and unit placement. Players must consider distance between forces and use terrain features to protect vulnerable units while exploiting open areas for air strikes.
- Identify choke points early to control enemy movement.
- Watch unit ranges when operating across wide terrain.

Multiplayer Capacity
Online play supports up to twenty players simultaneously, offering both competitive PvP and cooperative modes. The description calls the multiplayer "ultra‑complete," indicating extensive options for player interaction.
In larger lobbies, participants can divide responsibilities such as air command, armor lead or infantry support. Coordinated efforts often decide the outcome of battles on the massive maps.
- Assign specific roles to teammates for clearer coordination.
- Experiment with different player counts to find a comfortable pacing.
