About Voor De Kroon
Voor de Kroon mixes medieval strategy and action, letting you command troops from an RTS‑style view or jump into third‑person combat. All weapons and armor are modeled after contemporary medieval sources, giving battles a historically grounded feel.
The built‑in Warforge editor lets you create units, factions, castles and full campaigns, which can be shared through the Steam Workshop. The first native campaign, the Friso‑Hollandic Wars, lets you fight as Floris V or the Frisians in a 13th‑century Low Countries conflict.
01 / THE GUIDE
Historical Authenticity
Every weapon, helmet, mail and plate is drawn from manuscript and effigy references, so the visual design matches the era it represents. This focus on period‑accurate gear shapes the look of each battlefield.
The game’s combat emphasizes tactics such as timed charges and line holding, reflecting real medieval warfare rather than fantasy conventions. Players must work within the constraints of historically inspired formations.
- Compare helmets and mail to the cited manuscript illustrations for deeper immersion.
- Notice how the visual detail of armor reflects its historical source.

Dual‑Perspective Combat
Pull back to an RTS camera to maneuver formations, time charges and hold lines. From this macro view, positioning and timing are the primary concerns.
Switch to third‑person to fight alongside your men in the mud, where individual combat resolves the immediate outcome of the larger maneuver.
- Use the RTS view to arrange a charge before dropping into third‑person for execution.
- Observe how enemy formations react when you enter close combat.

Warforge Editor
The Warforge editor ships inside the game ready to use at launch. It lets you lay out units, factions, castles and entire campaigns using a level‑design approach.
Created content can be uploaded to the Steam Workshop, and you can download community‑made campaigns, extending play beyond the native offerings.
- Start by duplicating an existing unit template to learn the editor’s workflow.
- Preview your custom campaign locally before publishing it to the Workshop.

Friso‑Hollandic Wars Campaign
This first native campaign is a full historical conquest set in the 13th‑century Low Countries. Players may fight as Floris V seeking revenge or as the Frisians defending their lands.
The campaign showcases the blend of strategic planning and personal combat, providing a narrative backdrop that utilizes both the RTS and third‑person perspectives.
- Play both sides to see how unit composition differs between Floris V and the Frisians.
- Watch how terrain influences charge timing during larger battles.
