About Vietnam War

Vietnam War drops players into a massive 1000+ km² open world that spans North and South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The map is populated by independently moving units, offering dynamic combat without a scripted story or main mission line. Players can choose either U.S. forces or Vietcong/N.V.A., command squads, call in air and artillery support, and operate a wide range of vehicles from helicopters to tanks while managing basic survival needs like food, drink and medication.

01 / THE GUIDE

Massive Open World

The game features a single, continuous map exceeding 1000 km², covering diverse terrain such as the Mekong delta, river valleys, dense jungles and hilltop fire bases. Hundreds of manually built bases and villages populate the landscape, creating varied tactical opportunities.

Because other units act independently, the battlefield evolves even when the player is not directly engaged, making each sortie feel unique and encouraging exploration of the extensive environment.

  • Use the map’s landmarks to orient yourself before heading into dense jungle.
  • Plan routes that pass near villages for potential resupply opportunities.

02 / THE GUIDE

Squad Command System

Players can direct their squad to follow, stay, attack, and change formations, allowing coordinated actions against enemy forces. Commands are issued in real time, adapting to the fluid combat situations presented by the autonomous AI units.

Squad behavior can be tailored to mission types, such as search‑and‑destroy in jungles or defending fire bases, giving players tactical flexibility without a fixed storyline.

  • Set squads to hold positions when defending a fire base.
  • Switch formations to suit open‑field versus jungle engagements.

Radio Support Requests

Radios let players request airstrikes, artillery, reinforcements and supplies, adding a strategic layer to engagements. These calls can be used to break enemy concentrations or to bolster defensive positions.

Support options include a variety of aircraft and artillery platforms, enabling players to tailor firepower to the terrain and enemy disposition.

  • Call artillery before advancing on fortified positions.
  • Request air support when enemies are clustered in open terrain.

04 / THE GUIDE

Vehicle and Aircraft Arsenal

A broad selection of land, water and air vehicles is available, from UH‑1 Huey helicopters and B‑52 bombers to M48 Patton tanks and PBR boats. Each vehicle type offers distinct combat roles, such as transport, fire support or direct assault.

Players can also man door guns on aircraft, providing a hands‑on approach to aerial combat and allowing flexible engagement of ground targets.

  • Use a Chinook for rapid troop insertion into contested zones.
  • Employ tanks on open ground where their firepower is most effective.

05 / THE GUIDE

Survival and Environmental Hazards

Beyond combat, players must manage basic needs by eating, drinking and smoking to calm nerves, or using pills for a temporary energy boost. The jungle environment introduces hazards like booby traps, tigers, snakes and hidden tunnels.

Avoiding capture is crucial; becoming a POW is a real risk, encouraging cautious movement and awareness of enemy infiltration tactics.

  • Carry a mix of food and pills to handle long patrols.
  • Stay alert for visual cues of traps when moving through dense foliage.
