About Veterum
The Order of the Gatekeepers has one army remaining, and you lead it against spreading chaos. Prophets and blood cults mark the world's crisis. Your forces can unite humans, dwarves, elvers and turans, while tensions between those peoples complicate the coalition.
The game blends challenging turn-based battles with an open world where you choose where to march your army. Quests, random battles and city goods are generated anew each playthrough, and a built-in unit and map editor lets you craft and share your own missions.
01 / THE GUIDE
Turn-Based Combat
Units' facing, visibility, morale and fatigue all matter in turn-based combat. The description emphasizes choosing a force suited to the opponents, with weapons and magic both contributing to the army.
The detailed combat system also accounts for the illumination level of every battlefield cell, weather effects and more. Managing morale and fatigue therefore becomes a core part of tactical planning rather than an afterthought.
- Check unit morale before committing fighters to a battle.
- Keep an eye on accumulated fatigue so troops stay effective deep into a fight.

Interactive Environment
Nearly every object on a battlefield can be engaged with, so you can reshape the ground by building barricades, digging ditches, freezing rivers or felling trees. These alterations change movement and cover for both armies.
Before a battle starts, one-time scrolls can be spent to summon rain, poison enemies or construct a catapult. When facing night creatures, making fire and lighting the battlefield improves visibility for your troops.
- Spend a scroll to alter conditions before a tough encounter.
- Light the battlefield with fire when night creatures are on the opposing side.

Open World & Randomization
You choose the army’s route through an open setting even though a campaign story provides direction. Repeated runs vary because the game generates elements such as encounters, available city goods and quests, rather than fixing all of them identically.
Since the world refuses to repeat itself, rigid memorized routes offer little value. Staying flexible with your army's route and composition pays off more than following a fixed plan.
- Explore multiple regions early to sample a variety of quest lines.
- Reassess your unit mix after each random battle to handle new threats.

Unit & Map Editor
Veterum ships with a convenient unit and map editor, letting players build their own missions from scratch. The Steam listing includes a level editor feature, and creations can be shared with other players.
Community-made missions extend the game's content well beyond the campaign, supplying fresh scenarios drawn directly from the editor's toolset.
- Start with a small test map to learn how terrain choices play out.
- Publish completed missions so other players can try them and give feedback.

Accessibility & Difficulty Options
Beyond the broad difficulty choice, documented customization covers probabilities of landing hits, health totals and rewards. Display-accessibility tags mention text scaling, camera comfort and color alternatives; the listing also includes contrast controls.
The listing also notes a mouse-only option, playable-without-timed-input support, custom volume controls and partial controller support, giving players several ways to tailor how they interact with the game.
- For mouse-based play, the Steam accessibility listing explicitly identifies Mouse Only Option among the supported features.
- Tune hit chance and HP settings alongside the overall difficulty to find a comfortable challenge.
