About TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children

Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children is a turn-based strategy SRPG set in Valhalla, an unstable free-trading nation created by three world powers after a world war. Because the army was banned, public order is fragile, so the government grants civilians—known as Troubleshooters—the right to investigate and arrest criminals. You follow Albus, a newly licensed Troubleshooter, as he founds a company and takes on cases alongside a growing roster of colleagues.

The game features more than 100 uniquely designed missions, over 500 cut scenes, and a deep class system with more than 1000 masteries plus over 500 additional ones, many of which can be taken from defeated enemies. The Steam listing notes partial controller support, an offline mode for players with unstable internet, and accessibility options such as adjustable text size, adjustable difficulty, and playable-without-timed-input support.

Story and Setting

Valhalla is a free-trading nation established by three world powers for their own benefit after a world war. To keep the country under control, these powers outlawed Valhalla's army, leaving public order permanently unstable. Ten years after the Troubleshooter system was introduced, civilians are legally empowered to pursue criminals, forming the backdrop of the entire narrative.

The story centers on Albus, a 20-year-old who becomes an official Troubleshooter. He begins his company alone, but as cases are solved, many colleagues join him—each with personal motivations and stories of their own. Through their tales you experience a wide range of missions across Valhalla.

  • Read each new colleague's background carefully, since their motivations frame the missions you take on.
  • Follow the cut scenes closely; they carry much of the story's context.

Class and Mastery System

Every character has a unique class, and each can rank up to an upper class that changes the character's role. Masteries—over 1000 core ones and more than 500 additional—are gained according to level and class, and in most cases they can also be acquired from enemies, letting you adopt enemy traits for your own characters.

Combining masteries can activate additional effects, which allows you to build characters around your own strategy. Recruiting characters with particular roles also unlocks new playable content: a hunter lets you tame beasts, while an engineer lets you craft drones.

  • Take masteries from enemies to create hybrid builds that pure leveling would not provide.
  • Recruit varied roles early, since each new role unlocks additional playable content.

Missions and Cutscenes

There are more than 100 unique missions, each designed independently with its own circumstances. This means missions present varied situations rather than repeating a single template.

The story is portrayed through more than 500 cut scenes, giving the narrative a substantial cinematic component alongside the tactical missions.

  • Check each mission's unique circumstances before committing your team.
  • Use cut scenes to pick up context that helps you understand upcoming objectives.

Accessibility and Controls

The Steam listing highlights several accessibility features: adjustable text size, adjustable difficulty, subtitle options, custom volume controls, camera comfort, stereo sound, and support for playing without timed input. The listing also notes partial controller support.

An offline mode is provided for players with unstable internet connections, so the single-player experience does not depend on a constant connection.

  • If early missions feel too punishing, lower the difficulty—the game offers adjustable difficulty.
  • Turn on subtitles if you want written reinforcement of the story dialogue.

Online Features and Updates

Multi-playing content will be added continuously, and online mode requires an internet connection to keep user information safe and fair. Updates and maintenance are announced in advance; during those periods the online mode is inaccessible, though the offline mode remains available.

Steam integration includes achievements, trading cards, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing, per the store listing.

  • Watch for advance announcements of maintenance so you are not caught without online mode.
  • The unofficial Troubleshooter Discord channel is the developers' suggested place for more information.
