About Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator
Trans‑Siberian Railway Simulator places you in the cab of a VL10 locomotive during the late 1980s. You can choose a professional driver career, a survival‑focused challenge, or a Soviet‑mafia storyline that explores the railway’s underworld.
The 840 km, 1:1‑scale route requires you to obey traffic signs, monitor part wear, survive harsh weather, and manage hunger, thirst, illness, hypothermia, alcohol and hangover levels while transporting cargo, hunting, and engaging in combat.

Game Modes
Three distinct modes are offered: a legitimate driver career, a survival‑at‑all‑costs challenge, and a Soviet‑mafia job that reveals a dark railway underworld. Each mode uses the same core systems but emphasizes different narrative and gameplay goals.
Selecting a mode determines whether you focus on cargo transport, personal survival, or story‑driven missions, while still navigating the same VL10 locomotive and 840 km route.
- Start with the career mode to become familiar with traffic rules before tackling survival.
- Explore the mafia job after completing another mode to discover new locations.

Locomotive Controls
The VL10 can be operated with either simplified or realistic controls and procedures, letting you select the depth of simulation you prefer. The choice changes how you manage speed, braking and power.
Both control schemes apply to the same locomotive model; the difference lies only in the level of procedural detail required for safe operation.
- Try simplified controls first to learn basic handling.
- Switch to realistic controls for a deeper simulation feel.

Repairs and Maintenance
The game tracks wear on locomotive parts, requiring you to monitor components and replace them before failures occur. Maintenance actions prevent derailments and damage, directly influencing cargo transport safety.
Replacement parts can be bought with earned money, linking the maintenance system to the broader economy and trade mechanics.
- Check wear indicators regularly to avoid unexpected breakdowns.
- Plan part purchases during profitable cargo runs.

Survival System
While on the rails you must manage hunger, thirst, illness, hypothermia, alcohol and hangover levels. These factors affect your ability to operate the locomotive and survive long journeys.
The survival system interacts with the environment; low temperatures can be lethal, making resource management essential for both career and survival modes.
- Carry food and water to mitigate hunger and thirst penalties.
- Avoid excessive alcohol to keep performance stable.

Weather and Day‑Night Cycle
Dynamic weather includes blizzards, fog and night conditions that reduce visibility and increase difficulty. The day‑night cycle further influences navigation and signal response.
Extreme cold can kill the player, so weather awareness is crucial for planning travel times and maintenance stops.
- Schedule long trips during daylight to reduce visibility challenges.
- Watch for blizzard conditions to avoid reduced visibility.
