About Trainz Simulator World Tour
Trainz Simulator: World Tour places you behind the controls of a range of real‑world inspired locomotives. The title spans four detailed routes across the United States, Great Britain and Australia, delivering a global rail‑driving experience in a single‑player package.
Each route is broken into four gameplay sessions, giving a total of sixteen challenges that range from freight hauling to timed runs. The game runs on Windows and macOS, offers partial controller support and can be shared among family members on the same platform.
01 / THE GUIDE
Routes and Locales
Four routes are modelled after real locations: Coal Country in the USA, a western line from Denver, the East Coast Main Line from Edinburgh to Dundee in the UK, and the Bairnsdale‑to‑Orbost line in Australia. Each route presents its own scenery and terrain.
The routes are divided into four gameplay sessions each, creating sixteen distinct challenges. The session structure lets players experience different rail‑operation tasks while travelling through three countries.
- Compare the terrain of the US West route with the Australian Outback to notice how landscape influences speed management.
- Use the session order to practice a specific skill, such as freight handling on Coal Country before attempting passenger runs in the UK.

Locomotive Variety
The game includes a selection of diesel, steam and high‑speed engines, such as the CSX GP38‑2, UP GP38‑2, C&O 2‑8‑4 Kanawha, BR 9F Evening Star, BR HST Inter‑City 125 and BR Class 40.
Regional models also appear, for example the VR T Class diesel and VR K190 steam from Australia, expanding the roster beyond North American and British examples.
- Try the BR 9F Evening Star on the UK route to experience classic steam handling.
- Match locomotive power to the terrain; heavier diesels tend to perform well on the US coal routes.

Gameplay Sessions
Each of the four routes contains four unique gameplay sessions, totaling sixteen challenges. Sessions include tasks such as shunting freight, racing against time and navigating difficult terrain.
The design of each session encourages mastery of specific rail‑operation aspects, like precise stopping, speed regulation and handling varied rolling stock.
- Focus on one session type at a time to build confidence before moving to a different challenge.
- Observe how rolling stock behaves on each route to refine braking and acceleration techniques.

Platform Availability
Trainz Simulator: World Tour is listed for Windows and macOS; Linux is not indicated as a supported operating system. The store entry confirms these two desktop platforms.
The game is listed as a single‑player title, playable on the supported Windows and macOS systems.
- Verify that your computer meets the minimum specifications for Windows or macOS before installing.
- If you have multiple devices, ensure each runs a supported OS to avoid compatibility problems.

Family Sharing & Controller Support
The title lists Family Sharing, meaning multiple accounts on the same platform can access the game. Partial Controller Support indicates that some controller functionality is available, though it does not replace all input methods.
These features provide flexibility for households that share the game or prefer limited controller use, without implying exclusive control schemes.
- Set up Family Sharing so household members can try different routes without buying separate copies.
- Experiment with the partial controller support to discover which actions are mapped and which still rely on other inputs.
