Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 (Trainz 22) delivers a comprehensive rail‑simulation experience that blends route creation and train operation. The Platinum Edition adds Surveyor 2.0, a modern world‑building suite, plus all six original routes, five new routes and 21 locomotives. Players can drive pre‑built sessions in simple or realistic cab modes, or switch instantly to editing with the Unified Driver/Surveyor system.
The title supports single‑player, multiplayer and online co‑op across Windows and macOS, with cross‑platform multiplayer and family sharing. A massive library of free assets—over 400 vehicles and thousands of routes—can be accessed via the Trainz Download Station or the in‑game Content Store, and existing Trainz DLC can be imported.

Surveyor 2.0 Creation Tools
Surveyor 2.0 introduces a new Palette system, unlimited‑size brush, and a Marquee selection box for bulk editing. The gizmo lets you move or rotate selected objects, splines, terrain and ground textures in any direction.
Scrapbooks act as a new asset type that let you copy, save and reuse sections of a route in other routes, while the Multi‑Object Select feature lets you apply filters, move, rotate or delete groups of assets at once.
- Use the Marquee tool with filters to isolate specific asset categories before bulk actions.
- Save frequently reused sections as Scrapbooks to speed up building similar environments.

Asset Management in the Palette
The Assets Palette lists every asset you can place, with Category Filters and custom picklists for quick navigation. 3D thumbnails let you view assets in three dimensions, while the Preview Palette offers a resizable 3D preview window.
Advanced filters such as "Filter Selection" and "Filter Visibility" help locate assets already placed in the world, making bulk operations across multiple asset types straightforward.

Multiplayer Surveyor Collaboration
Multiplayer Surveyor (MPS) lets multiple players edit and drive in the same world in real time, using the same Surveyor tools. Worlds are limited only by the creators’ imagination, and additional routes can be added as demand grows.
MPS works alongside the standard offline Surveyor editor, so you can build alone or with friends without switching applications.

Content Library and Download Station
Trainz 22 ships with over 400 train vehicles and five new routes, and the Download Station offers thousands of additional locomotives, cars and routes—over 27,000 locomotives, 6,000 hoppers, 5,000 boxcars and more. Existing DLC from earlier Trainz titles can be imported.
The Content Store provides purchasable assets, while the free Download Station supplies a vast selection without extra cost.

Driving Modes and Cab Interaction
Players can operate trains in either "simple" or "realistic" cab mode, providing different levels of control detail. The Unified Driver/Surveyor system lets you switch instantly between driving and editing without reloading the map.
Pre-built sessions and routes can be driven in either mode, and you can also create and operate your own railroad.
