About Train Valley
Train Valley asks players to build rail networks that connect cities, tunnels and bridges across four historical regions. New tracks cost little on empty fields but become expensive when they replace forests, villages or other existing structures.
Players must keep traffic flowing by adding switches, sidings and spurs, and avoid accidents by using the pause function to plan construction and train schedules while time is stopped.

Story Mode
Story mode presents a series of short scenarios that last five to ten minutes each. Each scenario is tied to a real‑world event such as the 1849 Gold Rush, the Florida Overseas Railroad, World War II, the Cold War or the launch of Vostok 1.
Every scenario provides a set budget and time limit, requiring players to lay tracks, manage trains and keep the network accident‑free before the clock runs out.
- Check the budget before demolishing structures; costly removal can limit later expansions.
- Use pause to fine‑tune train schedules before the timer resumes.

Random Mode
Random mode generates a fresh level each launch, lasting about fifteen to twenty minutes. The terrain, city placement and required connections differ each time, offering a new layout for every playthrough.
Because the layout changes, players must adapt their track‑laying strategy on the fly, balancing cost against the need to keep trains moving smoothly.
- Survey the initial layout before building to spot natural shortcuts.
- Pause briefly after the first few connections to assess traffic flow.

Sandbox‑Like Regime
Both story and random modes can be switched to a sandbox‑like regime, which removes time and money limits. This lets players focus on pure network design without budget or deadline pressure.
Without constraints, players can experiment with all train types, test complex track configurations and observe how traffic behaves under ideal conditions.
- Try building a high‑speed loop to see how fast trains interact with switches.
- Compare traffic density when using many sidings versus a single main line.

Train and Car Types
The game features fifteen locomotive classes, ranging from early steam engines to modern high‑speed trains. The game includes eighteen different car types, including passenger cars, hoppers, cisterns and military platforms.
With fifteen locomotive classes and eighteen car types available, players can mix and match trains to suit the routes they build.
- Match high‑speed locomotives with passenger cars for quicker deliveries.
- Use freight‑oriented locomotives with hoppers when moving bulk goods.

Seasonal Regions
Train Valley spans four seasonal regions: Europe (1830–1980), America (1840–1960), USSR (1880–1980) and Japan (1900–2020). Each region covers a distinct historical era, from Europe's 1830–1980 span to Japan's 1900–2020 span.
The visual backdrop changes with each region, offering a distinct backdrop for each of the four seasons.
- Notice the architectural cues to anticipate which structures may need removal.
- Observe terrain differences that could affect bridge or tunnel placement.
