About Townsmen VR
Townsmen VR puts you in charge of a medieval settlement using virtual‑reality controls. You can view the island from a high god‑like perspective or walk among the townsfolk, building over 20 distinct structures across 13 islands while managing production and defense.
The game offers a fully‑voiced campaign that unlocks each island for sandbox play, letting you set personal goals or follow quests. Single‑player only, it supports tracked controllers, Steam achievements, cloud saves and family sharing.

God‑View and VR Interaction
The VR interface lets you scale yourself to a bird’s‑eye view or shrink to eye level with your townspeople, giving direct visual feedback on placement and activity. You can also crawl over terrain and adjust the camera as you would on a smartphone, providing fast environmental control.
Using tracked controllers you can pick up workers or resources and place them where needed, directly influencing construction speed and production flow while staying fully immersed in the virtual world.
- Switch between high and low viewpoints to check building alignment.
- Carry resources yourself to reduce the time villagers spend traveling.

Buildings and Upgrades
More than 20 unique buildings can be placed freely within your village, allowing you to arrange them for optimal transport routes. Each structure can be upgraded through research, which improves its efficiency or adds new capabilities.
Upgrades are applied after research is completed, and the upgraded building immediately reflects its enhanced performance, helping you meet the growing demand of your expanding population.
- Prioritise research that boosts resource output early.
- Group related buildings to shorten travel distances.

Production Chains
As the population grows, food and goods demand rises. Farms produce grain that can be sent to a mill for grinding, then to a bakery for bread, creating a clear chain that supplies townies with meals.
You can manually assist processes, such as pushing a windmill’s blades when there is no wind, ensuring continuous operation of the mill and keeping the food chain active.
- Keep farms, mills and bakeries close together to minimise transport.
- Watch wind conditions and intervene with the windmill when needed.

Combat and Defenses
To protect your settlement you can recruit soldiers and build heavy artillery such as catapults. Catapults launch boulders, and any object you can pick up may be used as ammunition when standard supplies run low.
Wild animals like wolves and bears, as well as pirate‑infested islands, pose threats that require you to balance troop numbers and defensive structures to keep your town safe.
- Maintain a reserve of throwable objects for emergency ammo.
- Place soldiers near likely attack routes for quick response.

Campaign and Sandbox Modes
The fully‑voiced campaign spans 13 islands, each of which can be unlocked for unrestricted play in sandbox mode. You may choose the number of starting townspeople, decide whether to defeat opponents, or focus on pirate encounters.
Sandbox mode removes preset constraints, allowing you to set personal objectives, experiment with building layouts, and explore the world at your own pace after islands have been unlocked.
- Complete a campaign island first to unlock it for sandbox.
- Define clear personal goals in sandbox to guide experimentation.
