Game Modes
Ticket to Ride provides several ways to play: online PvP matches, private games with friends, asynchronous sessions that span days, and a single‑player mode powered by adaptive AI. Each mode offers a different way to experience the game, whether against AI or other players.
These options let you choose a competitive leaderboard climb, a casual family night, or a relaxed solo session, all within the same app and with consistent visual presentation.
- Try asynchronous mode if you have limited time; the game notifies you when it’s your turn.
- Experiment with both AI and human opponents to discover different strategic approaches.

Turn Structure
At the start of a game, players receive tickets and a set of train cards; the exact numbers can vary by map. On each turn you may draw two train cards, draw a ticket, or claim a route using matching cards.
When a player’s remaining train pieces drop to three or fewer, the final round begins, and the player with the highest point total at game end wins.
- Balance drawing cards and claiming routes; holding too many cards can limit later options.
- Watch the remaining train pieces count to anticipate the final round.

Asynchronous Play
In async mode a game can stretch across multiple days, with the system sending notifications when it’s your turn. This lets you fit a full match into a busy schedule without needing continuous online presence.
All standard actions—drawing cards, tickets, and claiming routes—remain available as you play across multiple days.
- Keep an eye out for turn alerts so you don’t miss your move.
- Use the pause between turns to plan routes based on the current board.

Couch play supports shared/split‑screen multiplayer, letting you enjoy the board‑game feel without needing separate devices for each participant.
- Keep the Companion App updated for the best synchronization.
