About There Are No Orcs
There Are No Orcs is a combat‑strategy title that blends roguelike runs, tile‑building and auto‑battling. Players pick one of three factions—Humans, Demons or Dwarves—and place buildings on a grid to generate gold and troops without manual control.
The game offers 30 commanders, four distinct terrains, a Chaos difficulty, and ongoing post‑launch updates. It supports Single‑player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, and provides a Discord link from the main menu.
01 / THE GUIDE
Three Playable Factions
Humans, Demons and Dwarves each have their own building behaviours, meaning the way gold and units are produced varies by faction. Choosing a faction determines which synergy bonuses become available when tiles are arranged, shaping the overall army composition.
Because each faction works “in completely different ways,” players must adapt their placement strategy to the specific production and combat patterns of the side they control, rather than applying a single universal layout.
- Test each faction early to see how building outputs differ.
- Observe which synergy bonuses appear most often for a given faction.
02 / THE GUIDE
Tile‑Building and Synergy
Buildings are placed on tiles and automatically produce gold or combat units. The placement matters: adjacent structures can trigger synergy bonuses that increase efficiency, encouraging thoughtful layout rather than random placement.
Since each faction’s buildings behave uniquely, the same tile arrangement can yield different results depending on the chosen side, making experimentation essential for optimal production.
- Group similar buildings to maximize synergy effects.
- Place a building next to another type and watch the output change.

30 Unique Commanders
Each commander provides an active skill, passive traits and four exclusive buildings, allowing players to tailor tactics to a preferred style or visual preference. The commander’s toolkit directly influences how the auto‑battling proceeds.
Swapping commanders between runs creates fresh tactical experiments because every commander’s combination of skills and exclusive buildings interacts differently with faction‑specific building behaviours.
- Read commander skill descriptions before starting a run.
- Choose a commander whose exclusive buildings complement your preferred tactical style.

Terrains and Chaos Difficulty
Battles occur across four terrains—plains, desert, scorched earth and tundra—each providing a distinct visual backdrop. The game challenges you to push your skills to the limit across these distinct terrains.
Chaos difficulty is presented as the ultimate trial, described by the developers as involving “creative numbers” that keep players on their toes, offering a higher numerical challenge than standard runs.
- Try the same build on different terrains to notice visual differences.
- Attempt Chaos difficulty after you are comfortable with regular runs.

High Replay Value and Ongoing Content
Every run is a new tactical experiment, encouraging players to try unconventional army compositions such as endless skeletons or combined air‑ground dinosaur assaults. The developers promise continued content updates, bug fixes and new features after launch.
The design’s emphasis on endless variation means each session feels fresh despite using the same core systems, supporting long‑term engagement without requiring additional modes.
- Record successful building layouts to reuse or modify later.
