About The Wandering Village
The Wandering Village places you in charge of a small group of survivors who have taken refuge on the back of a massive, roaming creature called Onbu. In this post‑apocalyptic world, mysterious plants spread toxic spores, forcing you to balance construction, resource management, and the health of both villagers and their living platform.
You must expand the settlement across Onbu’s back, adapt to shifting biomes, research forgotten technologies, and fend off hazards such as poisonous spores, harsh weather, and parasites. Your choices determine whether the community thrives in symbiosis or devolves into parasitism.
01 / THE GUIDE
Village Building
A functioning village is the basis of survival. You build and expand the settlement over Onbu’s back, planning production chains to make the most of limited space. Efficient layouts help the community overcome challenges.
The game encourages you to create a society capable of handling the hostile environment. Expansion is tied directly to the creature’s surface, so every new structure must fit within the moving platform’s constraints.
- Prioritize compact production chains to free space for future structures.
- Regularly assess Onbu’s movement to place buildings where they’ll stay safe.
02 / THE GUIDE
Symbiosis with Onbu
Living on another organism introduces a moral choice: bond with Onbu for mutual trust or act as a parasite focusing only on villagers. The relationship influences how the creature reacts to your actions.
Your decisions affect both the villagers’ wellbeing and Onbu’s health, shaping the overall survival chances of the community.
- Consider the long‑term effects of resource extraction on Onbu’s health.
- Balance villager needs with the creature’s comfort to maintain symbiosis.

Biomes and Exploration
The journey takes you through many biomes, each with its own climate, opportunities, and threats. Continuous adaptation is required as the environment changes.
Scouting missions let you gather rare resources and ancient artefacts, helping the village stay ahead of new challenges presented by each biome.
- Send foraging missions before entering a new biome to stock up on needed resources.
- Observe each biome’s climate cues to anticipate upcoming hazards.

Research and Technology
Remnants of the old world hold forgotten knowledge. Villagers can find and research these technologies, unlocking new capabilities for the settlement.
Progress must be used wisely, as the game notes that advancement can be a double‑edged sword, potentially introducing new risks alongside benefits.
- Research technologies that directly improve resource efficiency first.
- Weigh the potential drawbacks before applying powerful new tech.
05 / THE GUIDE
Survival Challenges
Both villagers and Onbu face threats such as poisonous spores, merciless weather, and blood‑sucking parasites. These hazards constantly test the settlement’s resilience.
Ensuring survival means managing these dangers while maintaining the village’s growth and the creature’s health, keeping the odds in your favor.
- Monitor spore levels and adjust village layout to minimize exposure.
- Prepare weather‑specific defenses ahead of forecasted storms.
