01 / THE GUIDE
Journeys and Party Classes
Players select from fifteen playable journeys, each offering a distinct journey to Oregon. At the start you build and name a party drawn from different classes, and each class supplies its own starting items, skills and personality.
These class differences shape how random events resolve, so the same hazard may affect parties differently. The variety ensures that each trek feels distinct while keeping the core survival premise intact.
- Compare class starting kits to see which reduce early food scarcity.
- Observe how personality traits influence random events.

Random Events and Choices
Hundreds of random events appear throughout the trail, and each decision directly influences the fate of travelers. Events are affected by the unique skills and traits of party members, creating varied outcomes.
Choices can trigger classic hazards such as dysentery, broken legs, or river fording challenges. Paying attention to the options presented can mitigate negative results and preserve health and morale.
- Weigh long‑term impacts before selecting an option that risks health.
- Note which traits modify outcomes to plan future decisions.

Party Health, Morale, Stamina & Hygiene
The game tracks each member’s health, morale, stamina and hygiene, requiring regular attention to avoid fatal outcomes. Neglect can lead to classic hazards such as dysentery or exhaustion.
Balancing these metrics while moving forward is essential for keeping the party alive until Oregon. Keeping these metrics in check helps the party survive the trail.
- Prioritize hygiene during long stretches without rest.
- Use morale‑boosting actions when stamina drops sharply.

Wagon and Inventory Management
Your wagon holds all supplies, and careful inventory management is needed to fit everything. The description notes that maintaining the wagon prevents breakdowns and protects against spoilage or spillage of goods.
Keeping the wagon in good condition reduces the risk of losing essential items during travel. Regular checks for spoilage and thoughtful packing help preserve resources.
- Rearrange items each stop to maximize space.
- Watch for spoilage and discard at-risk items.

- Try fishing early to stock up on food before long travel legs.
- Check the achievement list for mini‑game milestones to guide play.
