About The Medium
Marianne, a medium haunted by inexplicable visions, travels to an abandoned communist‑era resort to uncover the source of her powers and the tragedy that lingers there. Bloober Team presents this single‑player adventure with a focus on investigation and horror.
The game’s signature dual‑reality system lets you view both the physical world and a nightmarish spirit realm at the same time, shifting between them to solve puzzles, avoid danger, and piece together a mystery that spans both dimensions.

Dual‑Reality Mechanic
The core mechanic offers two simultaneous perspectives: the decayed physical resort and a distorted spirit world. Shifting between them or observing both at once reveals objects, pathways, and clues that exist only in one realm, making exploration a constant comparison exercise.
Puzzles often require an action in one reality to affect the other, such as moving a physical object that opens a passage in the spirit world. Recognising how each realm mirrors or diverges from the other is essential for progress.
- Pause and compare both realms before moving; visual cues frequently appear in only one reality.
- Use the shift function to test how an action in one world influences the other before committing.

Medium Powers
Marianne can manipulate the environment, shield herself from hostile forces, and unleash spirit blasts. These abilities are used to break obstacles, protect against threats, and interact with elements that are otherwise unreachable.
Each power serves a distinct purpose: shielding provides temporary safety, while spirit blasts can destroy barriers or repel enemies. Timing these powers integrates both combat and puzzle solving.
- Combine shielding with movement to stay out of harm’s way when enemies appear.
- Reserve spirit blasts for obstacles that cannot be opened through normal interaction.

Spirit World Exploration
The spirit world is a haunting dimension inspired by nightmarish art and distorted memories. Its twisted landscapes host tormented souls and a relentless entity that feeds on fear, creating an atmosphere of constant tension.
Navigation relies on careful observation, as corridors shift and hidden pathways appear only when certain visual or audio cues are noticed. Paying attention to these cues is vital for advancing through the realm.
- Listen for subtle audio cues that hint at hidden doors or shifting corridors.
- Watch the behavior of tormented souls; they may indicate safe routes or imminent danger.

Dark Mystery
Story fragments are scattered across both worlds, including abandoned halls, forgotten chambers, and lingering memories. Collecting these pieces gradually reveals the resort’s tragic past and Marianne’s own origins.
Each fragment adds context, linking physical decay to spiritual trauma. As you piece together the narrative, the mystery deepens, culminating in a personal revelation for the medium.
- Take notes on recurring symbols; they often connect clues between the two realms.
- Revisit earlier locations after acquiring new information; previously inaccessible items may become reachable.
