About The Isle
The Isle is a gritty, open‑world survival horror experience set in a prehistoric landscape of forests, plains, mountains and swamps. Players roam a hostile ecosystem where the only rule is kill or be killed, and mistakes are harshly punished.
The game supports massive multiplayer servers of 100+ players, letting you become a dinosaur—herbivore or apex predator—and either survive the harsh world or explore it without pressure in Sandbox mode. Ongoing development promises new creatures, biomes and story elements driven by community cooperation.
01 / THE GUIDE
World & Environment
The Isle’s map spans dense forests, open plains, treacherous mountains and dark swamps, each hiding ruins that hint at a forgotten past. These varied biomes create natural hazards and opportunities for both predators and prey.
Exploration is un‑hand‑held; there are no explicit guides, so players must rely on observation and instinct to navigate and survive the ever‑evolving island.
- Move slowly in swamps to avoid sudden ambushes.
- Use high ground on mountains for better sight of approaching threats.

Playable Dinosaur Roster
Players can choose from dozens of creatures, ranging from tiny herbivores like Dryosaurus to massive carnivores such as T. Rex and Allosaurus. Each dinosaur uses its natural senses and abilities to survive and grow.
Future updates aim to add aquatic and aerial species, expanding the roster beyond land‑bound dinosaurs.
- Select a small herbivore early to learn the map before switching to a predator.
- Watch other players’ movement patterns to anticipate predator attacks.

Survival vs. Sandbox Modes
Survival mode forces dinosaurs through life stages, requiring growth from vulnerable hatchlings to powerful adults. Players must use scent, night vision and wits to avoid death and eventually unlock abilities like nesting.
Sandbox mode removes the pressure of life‑cycle progression, allowing immediate play as an adult predator or peaceful giant with no major penalties for dying.
- In Survival, focus on finding safe nesting spots early.
- In Sandbox, experiment with different species to learn their strengths.

Community‑Driven Story
The game's narrative is conveyed solely through environmental clues, requiring collective investigation by the player base. Questions about the island’s purpose, the mysterious “AE,” and distant night calls are answered only through shared discoveries.
Each revelation feeds back into the evolving storyline, meaning the community’s actions directly shape future content.
- Coordinate with other players to explore ruins together.
- Document unusual sounds; they may be key to the island’s mystery.

Future Development & Features
Planned additions include playable aquatic and aerial creatures, full life cycles for more dinosaurs, modern human and indigenous factions, and advanced “strain” versions of existing species. Developers also aim for realistic AI, new biomes like thick jungles, and broader accessibility.
Community feedback continues to guide these updates, with Steam Workshop mod support already available for players to contribute content.
- Check the Steam Workshop for community mods that add new creatures.
- Provide feedback on upcoming biomes to influence their design.
