The Gate Must Stand drops you into a medieval fantasy world where the continent has fallen and the city of Belrak’s gate is the final line of defense. As a warrior you recruit and upgrade allies, place them strategically, and fight in real‑time or hack‑and‑slash style to repel endless waves and towering demonic bosses.

Heroes and Skills
Four distinct heroes are available, each bringing a unique combat style such as berserker, assassin, spellcaster, or defender. Together they offer 149 hero skills that can be mixed and matched for varied builds.
Heroes can fall in battle, but the run continues as long as the gate survives. Skill choices affect how well you can combine attacks with followers for powerful synergies.

Followers and Upgrade Paths
Nineteen base followers can be recruited, each offering multiple upgrade routes that lead to 38 ultimate forms. In total there are 150 follower skills to shape your defense.
Followers can revive after death, allowing you to regroup and keep pressure on incoming enemies while you focus on the gate’s integrity.
- Balance follower upgrades between damage and defensive abilities.
- Use revival timing to maintain a constant frontline during boss intervals.

Bosses and Relics
Every five minutes a demonic boss appears; defeating one grants a game‑changing relic. Thirteen bosses and ten elite enemies test your evolving strategy.
Collected relics can evolve followers into their ultimate forms, providing a decisive edge against increasingly tough waves.
- Save relics for followers that complement your hero’s primary damage type.
- Time boss fights when your gate health is high to reduce risk of collapse.

Difficulty Levels and Stages
The game features three stages across six maps, each selectable at five difficulty levels. Higher difficulties increase enemy aggression and reward better relics.
Progression caps at level 7, with 46 advanced skill options unlocking as you advance, encouraging deeper tactical planning.
