About The Anomaly Project

The Anomaly Project is an indie multiplayer experience where teams of one to eight players explore a series of mysterious levels. Each level hides anomalies that challenge logic, and players must decide between a red or green tube to advance.

Correct tube choices move the group toward Level 10, while mistakes reset everyone to the start. The game includes text and proximity voice chat, Steam achievements, leaderboards, and several themed maps such as the new “Stairs” and a dark‑mode variant.

01 / THE GUIDE

Co‑op Multiplayer

The Anomaly Project supports online co‑op for up to eight participants. Players can communicate through built‑in text chat or proximity voice chat, which helps coordinate exploration and decision making.

Co‑operation is essential because spotting anomalies and agreeing on the correct tube requires input from the whole group. The shared chat tools enable quick discussion before each choice.

  • Use voice chat for rapid anomaly reports.
  • Set a simple keyword to signal a tube decision.

02 / THE GUIDE

Red vs. Green Tube Choice

Each level presents a binary choice: enter the red tube or the green tube. Selecting the correct tube advances the team toward the next level.

Choosing the wrong tube resets the entire group back to the first level, making careful observation of anomalies before committing crucial.

  • Pause briefly to let all players share observations.
  • Discuss any visual or auditory clues before deciding.

Anomaly Maps and Themes

The game offers five distinct anomaly maps, each with its own visual theme and set of challenges. New maps such as “Stairs” and a dark‑mode version add fresh atmospheres.

Each map includes unique visual cues and jump‑scare moments, encouraging players to adapt their observation strategies to different environments.

  • Note recurring visual motifs on each map.
  • Take a break if dark mode feels too intense.

Escape Objective

The ultimate goal is to reach Level 10 by consistently choosing the correct tubes across all maps. Success is measured by escaping the liminal space.

Steam achievements and leaderboards provide a competitive frame for teams that master the decision process.

  • Review achievement descriptions for clear objectives.
  • Compare leaderboard positions with friends to gauge improvement.

Atmosphere and Jumpscares

The Anomaly Project blends eerie sound design with sudden jumpscares to heighten tension. The game's unsettling audio design rewards attentive listening while searching for anomalies.

These audiovisual elements create a liminal, unsettling environment that reinforces the cooperative need to stay alert and communicate findings.

  • Use headphones to catch subtle audio hints.
  • Set volume high enough to hear jumpscares without startling teammates.
