About Tavern Talk - A Cozy Visual Novel
Tavern Talk puts you in the role of the Wayfarer’s Inn owner, a cozy tavern in the fantasy land of Asteria. The game focuses on dialogue, drink‑mixing, and shaping quests rather than managing resources or an economy. Over 20 colorful, LGBTQ+‑positive characters appear, each with distinct personalities and personal stories. Your choices affect multiple endings, and the narrative offers at least twelve hours of reading on a first play‑through. The experience is designed for casual play with full controller and mouse support, and it includes adjustable text and subtitle options.

Story and Characters
The narrative follows a D&D‑inspired plot where the tavern serves as a hub for adventurers. You meet more than twenty characters, each bringing rumors, triumphs, or failures that drive the story forward. The game emphasizes personal connections and the search for belonging among the patrons.
Through conversation you uncover fragments of an ancient evil threatening the land. The story unfolds through multiple endings, allowing you to influence the fate of Asteria based on the relationships you build.
- Listen carefully to each patron’s tale; small details often hint at larger plot points.
- Re‑visit characters after major events to see how their attitudes have shifted.

Casual Drink Mixing
You serve magical drinks that can alter a patron’s destiny. Options range from a potion of seething fury to more soothing brews. Each choice influences the outcome of the customer’s upcoming quest.
The mixing system is presented as a casual activity without timed input, allowing you to experiment at your own pace. Drinks also serve as a narrative device to reflect character moods.
- Try different drink combinations to see varied effects on quests.
- Observe a patron’s reaction to gauge whether the drink helped or hindered them.

Quest Creation from Rumors
Patrons share rumors that you can turn into quests for other adventurers. By gathering these snippets, you craft missions that send guests out into the world.
Each quest you design feeds back into the overarching story, linking personal tales to the larger threat looming over Asteria.
- Combine multiple rumors for richer, multi‑step quests.
- Balance risk and reward in quests to keep patrons engaged.
