About Tall Trails
Tall Trails is a single‑player exploration platformer starring Alp, a small golem who searches for purpose across five distinct biomes. Players run, climb, and launch using a Rocket Boot that consumes items as fuel, turning everyday objects into propulsion methods. Full controller support, adjustable difficulty, and remappable keybinds let players tailor the experience to their comfort.
01 / THE GUIDE
Rocket Boot Fuel System
Alp’s Rocket Boot propels him upward by burning items you collect, such as hot peppers for a jet‑pack boost, whirligigs for hovering, or spiders for swinging. The boot’s fuel system lets you pick different items to burn, changing the movement style. Each fuel type offers a unique traversal method, encouraging you to experiment with the environment to reach higher platforms or cross gaps that would be impossible with standard running.
- Try each fuel type in the same area to compare how they affect height and control.
- Observe the fuel’s effect before committing to a long jump to avoid overshooting.

Five Unique Biomes
Tall Trails features five distinct biomes, each introducing fresh visual themes and platforming challenges. From towering mountains to quirky islands, every region contains its own set of obstacles and hidden pathways. Exploring each biome rewards you with hidden treasures, hats, and badges, encouraging thorough traversal and curiosity about each environment’s quirks.
- Spend time scanning each biome for concealed routes.
- Match your fuel choice to the terrain to maximize movement efficiency.

Badges and Hats Collection
Collectible hats are items you can gather along the way, while badges can be upgraded to increase Alp’s platforming abilities to “unreasonable levels.” Both types are scattered throughout the world and can be pursued independently. Upgrading a badge changes how Alp moves, providing a tangible sense of progression beyond visual customization, whereas hats are simply another collectible to focus on.
- Focus on badges if you want stronger platforming performance.
- Gather hats for a visual record of explored areas.

New Game+ and Randomizer Modes
After completing the main story, you can restart in a randomly generated world via New Game+ or Randomizer mode. These modes reshuffle terrain and item placement, presenting islands and layouts unseen in the first playthrough. The randomization extends longevity by ensuring each subsequent run feels fresh, encouraging you to revisit earlier strategies with new environmental configurations.
- Experiment with different fuel items in each new run to discover fresh routes.
- Note how random island layouts affect badge and hat locations.
