About Tales & Tactics

Tales & Tactics is a single‑player roguelike auto‑battler that mixes squad strategy with a story‑driven adventure. Players guide a character through three acts of the Grand Tournament, assembling a team from diverse races and classes while collecting equipment, perks, and level‑up bonuses.

The game includes a progressive unlock system that adds new units, items, and mechanics after each run, win or lose. After the main campaign, players may attempt the Challenge Climb for higher difficulty or compete in ranked and unranked PvP against other players.

01 / THE GUIDE

Campaign Structure

The core adventure spans three acts, each concluding with a battle against a rival character or a boss. Completing the Grand Tournament marks the narrative endpoint of a run.

Every run presents a fresh set of rewards, encouraging experimentation with different unit combinations and equipment. The unlock system adds new content after each run, regardless of outcome.

  • Observe which enemy types appear in each act to plan unit roles early.
  • Note recurring equipment drops to prioritize collection in later runs.

02 / THE GUIDE

Unit Variety

Players can recruit over 100 units, including Tanks, Healers, Mages, Engineers and more. Units belong to races such as Fae, Dragons, Treefolk, Skeletons, Ghouls, and Orcs.

Each unit carries unique traits, and trait synergies between units affect auto‑battle outcomes, making squad composition a strategic decision.

  • Pair units whose traits complement each other to boost synergy bonuses.
  • Mix frontline tanks with support healers for sustained battles.

Equipment and Perks

More than 200 items and 200 perks can be found during runs. Items are assigned to units to increase combat effectiveness, while perks provide strategic advantages to help you on your journey.

Both items and perks are part of the unlock system, meaning new options become available after each run, win or lose.

  • Equip items that match a unit’s role, such as offensive gear for mages.
  • Experiment with different perk combinations to discover hidden synergies.

Challenge Climb

After finishing the Grand Tournament, players may enter the Challenge Climb. This mode offers fifteen difficulty tiers to climb, adding challenging difficulty increases and new mechanics to the trials ahead.

The climb is optional and designed for players seeking deeper strategic challenges beyond the main story.

  • Start with lower tiers to gauge the impact of new mechanics.
  • Keep a reserve of versatile units for unexpected difficulty spikes.

05 / THE GUIDE

PvP

The game offers ranked and unranked online PvP, allowing players to battle squads built by others around the world. Matches let you put your squad-building tactics to the test against other players.

PvP provides a way to test strategies against human opponents, extending replay value after the campaign is completed.

  • Study opponent squad compositions to adapt your own lineup.
  • Apply the same synergy principles from solo runs to gain an edge.
