About SWORD ART ONLINE Fractured Daydream
SWORD ART ONLINE Fractured Daydream introduces Galaxia, a new ALfheim Online system that destabilizes time and space, pulling characters from across the series into a shared crisis. Kirito leads 21 familiar faces in an original, story‑driven single‑player campaign to restore the timeline.
Beyond the solo narrative, the title offers four online‑only multiplayer experiences that let up to 20 players cooperate in massive boss encounters, coordinated quests, or free‑roam exploration. Cross‑platform play, full controller support, and Steam features such as Achievements, Cloud, and Family Sharing round out the social options.
01 / THE GUIDE
Single‑Player Mode
The story mode delivers a one‑player experience centered on an original narrative where characters from different eras converge to confront the Galaxia anomaly. Players follow Kirito as he navigates this altered VR world.
All 21 series characters appear with distinct roles, providing varied interactions throughout the campaign. The mode is designed for solo progression without requiring a pre‑formed group.
- Listen to each character’s dialogue for hints about their role in the unfolding plot.
- Observe environmental details that foreshadow upcoming challenges.

Boss Raid
Boss Raid is an online‑exclusive mode where up to 20 players, organized into five parties of four, challenge a gigantic boss. The mode revives powerful foes previously faced by Kirito and his allies.
If fewer than 20 human players join, NPCs are added until the total reaches 20, ensuring the raid proceeds with a full roster.
- Coordinate with your party to focus fire when the boss exposes weak points.
- Watch NPC behavior for cues about optimal attack timing.

Co‑Op Quest
Co‑Op Quest also supports up to 20 players split into five parties. The parties start separated and gradually merge as the quest advances, culminating in a final boss showdown that requires collective effort.
As with Boss Raid, NPCs are added when player numbers are insufficient, guaranteeing a full complement of participants for the encounter.
- Communicate with adjacent parties as they converge to synchronize strategies.
- Use early phases to familiarize yourself with the map layout before the final battle.

Free Roam
Free Roam lets up to 20 players explore a vast map populated with powerful bosses and treasure chests. The mode is intended for one‑time adventures with randomly selected participants.
The map supports up to 20 participants, so the number of players you encounter can vary from session to session.
- Prioritize locating treasure chests early to boost resources before engaging bosses.
- Stay aware of nearby players; their presence can affect boss spawn timing.

Cross‑Platform Multiplayer
The game supports cross‑platform multiplayer, allowing Windows players to join sessions together regardless of hardware. Full controller support is included, and Steam features such as Achievements, Cloud, and Family Sharing are available.
All online‑only modes can be accessed solo through matchmaking, meaning a single player can experience the multiplayer content without a pre‑formed group.
- Enable Steam Cloud to keep progress synced across different Windows installations.
- Test both DualShock and DualSense controllers to see which layout feels more comfortable.
