About Swarm Queen
In Swarm Queen you command an insectoid hive on Europa, focusing on strategic decisions while your minions act autonomously with fuzzy‑logic targeting. You mutate eggs into combat units, manage four egg slots, and spawn Harvester bugs to gather nectar, the core resource.
The campaign spans 21 levels, each introducing a new enemy unit or ability that you later unlock. After finishing the main story you can tackle challenge levels, hard mode, or New Game Plus with extra nectar. Version 2.0 adds a cartoon art style, Steam achievements, visible enemy emotions, and an easy difficulty.
01 / THE GUIDE
Campaign Structure
The game offers 21 campaign levels, each pitting you against an opposing Swarm Queen who gains a fresh unit or ability. You can view the enemy’s unit list before a level or from the pause screen, letting you plan your approach.
Finishing the campaign unlocks optional challenge levels and allows replay on hard mode or New Game Plus, which provides additional nectar for both queens, extending strategic depth beyond the main story.
- Check the enemy unit list before each level to anticipate new threats.
- Use challenge levels to experiment with different egg‑slot mixes.

Egg Management
You have four egg slots; each slot can be mutated into a specific combat minion. Choosing which eggs to mutate shapes your tactical options, as you cannot exceed the four‑slot limit.
Harvester bugs are spawned to collect nectar, the resource needed for creating and mutating other units, so the source advises making sure to spawn them.
- Balance combat minions with Harvester bugs to keep nectar flowing.
- Swap mutated eggs between missions to test different unit combinations.

Nectar Collection
Nectar is gathered by Harvester bugs you spawn, and it fuels the creation and mutation of additional units. Managing nectar income is essential for sustaining your hive during battles.
Both you and the enemy queen collect nectar, making resource control a competitive aspect of each encounter and influencing the timing of unit deployment.
- Watch your nectar meter during fights; low nectar limits your ability to respond to new threats.
- Observe the enemy’s Harvester activity to gauge their resource advantage.

Difficulty Options
Version 2.0 introduces an easy difficulty setting alongside adjustable difficulty overall, letting players tailor the challenge to their skill level.
You can also go back and beat levels on hard mode, offering a tougher experience for those seeking a greater test of strategy.
- Start on easy to learn the fuzzy‑logic behavior of minions before moving to higher difficulties.
- Try hard mode after mastering egg slot choices to evaluate your strategic depth.
