About Super Double Dragon
Super Double Dragon arrives on modern consoles, reviving the 1992 side‑scrolling action classic originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System™. Players control the twin Dragons across stage‑based levels, now with updated visual borders and speed options.
The remake adds a Guard command, a Dragon Power gauge for new moves, and stage items like sandbags and punching bags. Multiplayer modes include shared/split‑screen co‑op, and a Mode B option that enables friendly fire for added chaos.
01 / THE GUIDE
Guard Command
The Guard command lets players block incoming enemy attacks, adding a defensive layer to the fast‑paced combat. Timing the guard correctly can prevent damage and create openings for counter‑attacks.
Using Guard strategically is especially useful in crowded stages where enemies approach from multiple directions. It pairs well with the newly added Dragon Power gauge for follow‑up moves.
- Practice the timing of Guard against different enemy patterns to reduce damage.
- Combine Guard with Dragon Power attacks for smoother combos.
02 / THE GUIDE
Dragon Power Gauge
A new Dragon Power gauge builds up during combat, letting you unleash new moves. These moves expand the combat repertoire beyond the original game’s basics.
Managing the gauge adds a resource element; players may choose to unleash a powerful attack immediately or save it for tougher enemy clusters.
- Let the gauge build during easier sections to have it ready for boss encounters.
- Experiment with different special moves to find the most effective for each stage.

03 / THE GUIDE
Stage Items: Sandbags & Punching Bags
Throughout each level, sandbags and punching bags appear as interactive items. Using them can help take out enemies during fights.
These items add environmental variety, encouraging players to move around the stage rather than staying in a single lane.
- Position yourself near items before large enemy waves arrive.
- Use items to break enemy formations and create breathing room.
04 / THE GUIDE
Customizable Play Speed
Players can adjust the game's speed, with a maximum setting of double speed. Faster play intensifies the action and tests reaction times.
Adjusting the play speed can be useful for learning stage layouts or mastering new moves introduced by the Dragon Power gauge.
- Start at normal speed, then increase gradually to gauge comfort.
- Try adjusting the play speed while practicing Guard timing or new special moves.
05 / THE GUIDE
Mode B – Friendly Fire
Activating Mode B enables friendly fire, meaning players can damage each other during co‑op play. This adds a competitive edge to the shared screen experience.
Friendly fire encourages communication and coordination, as careless attacks can hinder a teammate’s progress.
- Discuss attack zones with your partner before engaging tough sections.
- Use Mode B sparingly if you prefer a more cooperative experience.
