About Super Alloy Ranger
Super Alloy Ranger is a side-scrolling action-adventure in which Space Hunters Kelly and Rambos, stranded on the abandoned planet Tanwada while pursuing the criminal Lamos, battle a mechanical army that keeps self-evolving under a mysterious program. Robot sisters No.2 and No.3 appear and join the hunt, and the pair push through sunken cities, the freezing Sea of Frost, the endless Abyssal Mines and other locales to uncover the truth.
The game blends pixel art inspired by Metal Slug and Mega Man with fast platforming, chip-based combat and barrage-style boss fights. The Steam listing marks it as single-player with partial controller support and Family Sharing, available on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Movement Techniques
The game lists six core movement options: running, jumping, dashing, a mid-air dash, wall climbing and double jumps. These techniques are the key to conquering the challenging level layouts and dodging enemy fire.
Combining techniques is central to progress; chaining a wall climb into a mid-air dash, for instance, can clear vertical gaps that a single jump cannot. The classic side-scrolling mode asks you to dodge bullets while jumping, dashing and climbing your way forward.
- Practice chaining wall climbs with mid-air dashes in a safe area to gauge distance.
- Use double jumps after a dash to reach platforms that sit just above the dash range.

Character Abilities
Kelly is a shooting expert whose bullets change based on the Attribute Chip he has equipped, and he can charge his ammunition to enhance its effect. The energy core on his combat uniform slowly builds up the energy needed for his special weapons.
Combat Robot No.2 has more attack methods than you might expect—claws, swords, spears and more, revealed by unlocking various Attribute Chips. It collects energy from every hit landed on an enemy, and once enough has accumulated it releases a powerful deathblow based on its equipped chip, which can even turn a losing situation around.
- Swap Attribute Chips between runs to see how bullet types and melee tools differ.
- Let Robot No.2 accumulate hits before triggering the deathblow for maximum impact.

Enemy Design
The mechanical army on Tanwada has been infected by a mysterious program that drives continuous self-evolution, producing foes such as mechanical aircraft, aggressive underwater robots, a battle fortress digging toward the planet's core, and an enormous humanoid produced in the Machine Arsenal.
Each level ends with a dangerous mutant Machine Boss waiting to be challenged, unleashing dense barrages that demand precise movement and timing to survive.
- Observe each enemy's attack pattern before committing to an offensive move.
- Prioritize dodging the boss's projectile streams before using charged attacks.

Exploration
The description notes that many hidden pathways are waiting to be explored throughout the stages, encouraging players to look beyond the main route.
Hunting for these routes pairs naturally with the movement toolkit: testing every dash, climb and double jump against suspicious ledges is a sensible habit when tracking down the wanted criminal across Tanwada's varied regions.
- When exploring, test each movement ability to reach areas that seem out of reach.
- Revisit earlier stages after unlocking new Attribute Chips to see if new routes become accessible.

Visual Style
Super Alloy Ranger draws on beautiful pixel art in the tradition of Metal Slug and Mega Man, striving for detail within this relatively abstract art form while building a world the developers describe as fun and exquisite.
The animations are highlighted as fun and exquisite, reinforcing the fast-paced side-scrolling action with expressive character and enemy motion.
- Watch pixel cues on enemies to anticipate incoming fire.
- Appreciate background details; they often hint at level themes.
