About Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V lets you select from 16 fighters, each paired with a personal story and specific training challenges. Battles can be fought offline or online, with Ranked, Casual, or private Battle Lounge options. The game includes Arcade, Team Battle, and Extra Battle modes that award XP and Fight Money.

Cross‑play links PlayStation 4 and Steam players, letting them compete together. Fight Money earned in matches can be spent on additional characters, costumes, stages, and other content, while the free cinematic story “A Shadow Falls” expands the narrative.

01 / THE GUIDE

Character Roster

The base roster contains 16 iconic fighters, each with a unique story and dedicated training challenges. These characters are available from the start and form the core of the fighting experience.

Additional fighters, costumes, and stages become purchasable with Fight Money earned in matches, expanding the roster beyond the initial sixteen.

  • Earn Fight Money in both Ranked and Casual matches to unlock new fighters faster.
  • Review each character’s story mode to understand their strengths before spending Fight Money.

02 / THE GUIDE

Match Modes

Players can compete in Ranked Matches for Fight Money, Casual Matches for practice, or invite friends into a private Battle Lounge. Each mode supports online play and awards experience points.

Arcade Mode, Team Battle Mode, and the online‑enabled Extra Battle Mode provide structured single‑player or cooperative experiences, with Extra Battle granting additional XP and Fight Money.

  • Use Ranked matches when you want to maximize Fight Money earnings.
  • Try Extra Battle Mode to gain extra XP alongside regular rewards.

Cross‑Play Compatibility

Street Fighter V supports cross‑play between PlayStation 4 and Steam, allowing players on both platforms to face each other in online matches. This works for all online match types.

Cross‑play enables friends on different hardware to join the same Battle Lounge or compete in Ranked, Casual, and Extra Battle matches without platform restrictions.

  • Coordinate with friends on the opposite platform to fill your Battle Lounge quickly.
  • Check network settings if you encounter connection issues across platforms.

04 / THE GUIDE

V‑System Mechanics

Each fighter has a V‑Gauge that fills when V‑Skills are used. When the gauge is full, players may activate V‑Trigger 1 or V‑Trigger 2 for powerful techniques.

V‑Reversal consumes one V‑Gauge stock to interrupt an opponent’s attack, providing defensive space and the chance to counter‑attack.

  • Practice landing V‑Skills to keep your V‑Gauge topped up.
  • Reserve V‑Reversal for moments when you need immediate defensive breathing room.

05 / THE GUIDE

Special and Critical Attacks

Special Attacks are core moves that also build the Critical Gauge. EX Special Attacks consume one Critical Gauge bar for increased damage.

When the Critical Gauge is full, a Critical Art can be performed, delivering the highest damage available in the game.

  • Use Special Attacks to fill the Critical Gauge while pressuring opponents.
  • Save Critical Art for clear openings to maximize its damage potential.
