About Stellar Wanderer DX

Stellar Wanderer DX puts you in the role of a freelance pilot who survived an assassination attempt on both your client and yourself. You can follow a fully voiced story lasting about ten hours, or explore an open galaxy at your own pace.

Choose from over a dozen ships, equip them with more than 100 weapons or devices, and adopt a Fighter, Trader, Tank, or Engineer role. Combat can be fought in third‑person, first‑person, or cockpit view, while retro‑style visuals fill each star system.

01 / THE GUIDE

Story and Voice Acting

The narrative follows a freelancer who survived an assassination attempt on both the client and themselves. The story delivers roughly ten hours of gameplay, fully voiced in English, and introduces charismatic characters and ancient secrets.

Side missions appear at every space station, ranging from bounty hunts to escort duties. These optional tasks expand the plot and provide additional combat and trading opportunities, all presented with the same voice‑acting quality as the main storyline.

  • Consider tackling side missions after main‑story chapters to keep the narrative fresh.
  • Listen for character cues that hint at upcoming mission types.

02 / THE GUIDE

Ship Customization

Players can select from more than a dozen unique ships and outfit each with over one hundred weapons or devices, including weapons, shields, engines, tractor beams, hidden compartments, and passenger cabins.

Each ship class—Fighter, Trader, Tank, Engineer—provides a special ability and bonuses, allowing you to tailor a vessel for combat, trade, or exploration based on your preferred tactics.

  • Mix offensive and defensive equipment to see which balance suits your playstyle.
  • Add cargo‑related devices if you plan to focus on trading or smuggling.

03 / THE GUIDE

Trading and Mining

Every star system features its own economy, prices, and needs. You can mine resources, trade goods, or smuggle contraband between stations, influencing your wealth and reputation.

Police do not appreciate illegal cargo, so transporting contraband through high‑security systems can provoke negative responses, while border worlds and pirate systems offer riskier but potentially higher‑reward opportunities.

  • Compare buy and sell prices across neighboring systems to spot profitable routes.
  • Avoid illegal cargo in high‑security zones to reduce police encounters.

04 / THE GUIDE

Combat Views and Modes

Space battles can be fought from third‑person, first‑person, or cockpit perspectives, giving flexibility in how you engage enemies such as rival factions, pirate armadas, and alien forces.

The combat system rewards both precision and raw firepower, and each ship role—Fighter, Tank, Engineer—emphasizes different aspects like maneuverability, shield strength, or utility.

  • Try cockpit view for tighter aiming with precision weapons.
  • Use third‑person view to maintain awareness during larger engagements.

Platform Features

Stellar Wanderer DX runs on Windows and includes full controller support, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud saving, camera comfort settings, and custom volume controls.

Family Sharing, stats tracking, and other Steam features are available, allowing multiple accounts on the same device to access the game and view performance data.

  • Enable camera comfort options if fast dogfights cause motion discomfort.
  • Check the stats screen after missions to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
