About Starfield

Starfield is Bethesda Game Studios’ first new universe in over 25 years, a next‑generation role‑playing game set in the year 2330. Players create a custom character, join the explorer group Constellation, and travel among more than 1,000 planets while uncovering humanity’s greatest mystery. The game blends space travel, ship customization, resource gathering, and combat, offering a single‑player experience with full controller support and Steam features such as achievements and cloud saves.

01 / THE GUIDE

Character Creation

At the start, players customize appearance, choose a Background and select Traits, shaping how the story unfolds. Options include explorer, diplomat, cyber runner, and other archetypes, each influencing dialogue and interactions.

These choices affect the narrative but do not lock the player into a fixed playstyle, allowing flexibility as the journey progresses.

  • Experiment with different Backgrounds to see varied dialogue options.
  • Mix Traits that complement your preferred combat or exploration style.

02 / THE GUIDE

Planet Exploration

03 / THE GUIDE

Ship Customization

Players pilot a personal ship that can be visually personalized and mechanically upgraded. Weapons, shields, and other systems are modifiable, and crew members provide unique bonuses.

Ships can engage in dogfights, dock at stations, and be boarded or commandeered for collection.

  • Prioritize shield upgrades for survivability in dogfights.
  • Assign crew members whose bonuses match your combat focus.

04 / THE GUIDE

Resource Gathering & Crafting

Collected materials from planets can be used to craft medicine, food, equipment, and weapons. Outposts can be built to extract resources passively and link cargo routes.

Investing raw materials into research unlocks new crafting recipes, expanding the player’s toolkit.

  • Establish outposts near rich resource nodes for steady supply.
  • Focus research on recipes that complement your combat gear.

05 / THE GUIDE

Combat System

Starfield features a refined combat system with long‑range rifles, laser weapons, and demolitions, each modifiable. Zero‑G environments add chaos, while boost packs enhance maneuverability.

Combat occurs both on foot and in space, allowing varied tactical approaches.

  • Use boost packs to gain positional advantage in Zero‑G fights.
  • Modify weapons to suit either ranged or close‑quarters encounters.
