About SPORE

Spore lets you guide a species from a single‑cell organism to a galaxy‑spanning civilization. The game is divided into five distinct evolutionary stages, each with its own style and goals. You may begin at the microscopic level or jump straight to later phases, shaping tribes or whole societies on new worlds.

A suite of creation tools lets you design creatures, vehicles, buildings and starships, giving you control over every element of your universe. The experience is single‑player and includes Steam Trading Cards and Family Sharing support.

01 / THE GUIDE

Five Evolutionary Stages

Spore’s gameplay is organized into five stages: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space. Each stage presents unique challenges and goals that affect later phases. Your decisions in early stages reverberate through generations, influencing the eventual fate of your civilization.

You can start at any stage, either nurturing a tide‑pool organism or building a space‑faring empire directly. The game tracks your progress across stages, linking them into a continuous evolutionary narrative.

  • Experiment with different creature designs early to see how they impact later stages.
  • Consider the long‑term implications of choices made in the Cell stage.

02 / THE GUIDE

Creation Tools

Spore provides a variety of easy‑to‑use tools for building every aspect of your universe. You can craft creatures, vehicles, buildings, and starships, shaping the look and function of each element.

These tools are integrated throughout the stages, allowing you to customize your species and its technology as you progress from microscopic life to intergalactic travel.

  • Use the creature editor to test mobility before advancing to the Tribe stage.
  • Save multiple designs to compare how different builds affect gameplay.

Flexible Starting Points

Players may begin at the Cell stage and evolve a single species from tide‑pool to galaxy, or jump directly into later phases such as Tribe or Civilization. This flexibility lets you tailor the experience to your preferred play style.

Regardless of where you start, the game tracks your actions, ensuring that earlier choices still influence later outcomes, even if you skip stages.

  • Try starting at the Tribe stage to focus on social dynamics.
  • If you enjoy building, begin at the Civilization stage for immediate city planning.

04 / THE GUIDE

Single‑Player Experience

Spore is designed as a single‑player title, allowing you to explore and shape your universe without online competition. All creation and evolution occur offline, giving you full control over pacing.

The single‑player focus means you can pause, experiment, and revisit earlier stages at your leisure, without external pressures.

  • Take breaks between stages to plan your next evolutionary step.
  • Use the pause function to fine‑tune creations without time pressure.

05 / THE GUIDE

Steam Integration

Spore supports Steam Trading Cards and Family Sharing, integrating with the Steam platform for additional community features. These additions do not affect core gameplay but provide extra collectible and sharing options.

Family Sharing lets multiple accounts access the same installation, while Trading Cards offer a way to collect and trade virtual items related to the game.

  • Collect all Trading Cards to complete the set for a badge.
  • Enable Family Sharing to let friends try the game without purchasing.
