About Spellcaster University
Spellcaster University puts you in charge of a magical academy set in a colourful heroic‑fantasy world. You design the campus, allocate a budget, and recruit teachers to shape a focus such as necromancy, druidic rites, or combat‑oriented mage training.
Your decisions affect student traits, graduate outcomes, and the reactions of external factions like the Adventurers Guild or the Dark Lord. Survive orc raids, manage discipline with a dungeon, and watch graduates emerge as necromancers, archmages, or peasants, granting bonuses for later campaigns.
01 / THE GUIDE
magic decks
The game revolves around choosing from several themed decks—Arcane, Light, Nature, Alchemy, and Shadow. Each deck unlocks specific artifacts, rooms, or magical beasts that match the school’s curriculum, for example the Arcane Deck provides reality‑defying rooms.
Deck selection determines the strategic options available for the current campaign and with each deck supplying unique content that shapes gameplay.
- Experiment with different decks in separate runs to see how each changes available facilities.
- Match a deck’s unique options with the traits you plan to admit for smoother progression.
02 / THE GUIDE
student wellbeing
When admitting pupils you set traits, personality, alignment, and wealth, all of which influence academic success and future careers. Well‑being is managed by building refectories, dormitories, and rest rooms, while discipline can be enforced through a dungeon.
At graduation the game reveals each student’s outcome—necromancer, archmage, peasant, etc.—and provides bonuses that feed back into the university’s development.
- Balance comfort facilities with disciplinary structures to keep students on track.
- Align admitted traits with the strengths of your chosen deck for better results.

03 / THE GUIDE
faction interactions
Multiple‑choice events let you negotiate with groups such as the Adventurers Guild, the king, or orc shamanic tribes. Your responses can grant short‑term aid, long‑term alliances, or hostile repercussions, affecting safety and resources.
Choices like threatening the Dark Lord or lying to witch hunters have consequences that may appear in later events, making diplomatic foresight valuable.
- Weigh immediate benefits against possible long‑term fallout before answering.
- Keep a simple note of past faction choices to anticipate future outcomes.
04 / THE GUIDE
environment placement
You can locate the university in isolated settings—lake, mountain, desert, volcano, or even on a giant turtle’s back. Each environment offers a different isolated setting for your university.
Building in isolated environments helps you flee from the armies of darkness, so location matters for your school's safety.
- Select an environment that complements the strengths of your deck.
- Plan defensive structures early if the location is prone to attacks.
05 / THE GUIDE
upgrades and artifacts
Facilities can be upgraded with powerful artifacts such as the World Tree Wood Table Set or the Soul Eater Bed, enhancing their effectiveness. Legendary creatures like dragons, fauns, and pegasi can also populate the campus, adding unique benefits.
These upgrades and creatures add unique benefits to daily campus life.
- Prioritize artifact upgrades for rooms that directly affect student performance.
- Balance legendary creature placement with available space.
