About Space Hulk: Ascension (Classic)
Space Hulk: Ascension (Classic) places a squad of Ultramarines Terminators in the cramped corridors of ancient starships, fighting turn‑based battles against Genestealer hordes. Players move units, choose weapons, and manage progression while uncovering the Hulk’s layout.
The Windows‑only release adds UI scaling up to 4K, Steam Cloud save support, and several gameplay updates such as new weapons, enemy biomorphs, a Rogue Mode with leaderboards, and over 100 missions across three campaigns.
01 / THE GUIDE
New Ultramarines Chapter
A brand‑new Space Marine chapter appears, giving players access to Terminators equipped with a Cyclone missile launcher. This addition expands the roster of available firepower for mission planning.
The chapter is part of the game's unit customisation, allowing each Terminator to receive a personal name, chosen loadout, and visual tweaks.
- Compare the Cyclone launcher’s range and reload with other weapons to decide its best placement.
- Observe how the new chapter’s units fit into your overall squad composition.

Terminator Progression & Customisation
During missions Terminators earn experience points that can be spent to raise attributes and unlock skills, shaping each unit’s combat role over time.
Customisation extends beyond stats: players may assign unique names, select weapon loadouts, and modify appearance, giving each Terminator a distinct identity.
- Track which attribute upgrades improve survivability versus damage output.
- Use visual customisation to quickly identify specialised units on the battlefield.

Campaigns, Missions & Flash Missions
The game provides more than 100 missions distributed across three complete campaigns, offering a structured progression path for players.
Flash missions appear opportunistically while exploring the Hulk; they can grant tactical advantages or act as traps, adding a risk‑reward element to map discovery.
- Treat flash missions as optional encounters and weigh potential rewards against possible danger.
- Balance time spent on main objectives with the curiosity of exploring optional flash missions.
04 / THE GUIDE
Rogue Mode & Leaderboards
Rogue Mode generates random Hulk layouts for each playthrough, challenging players to survive while collecting points that contribute to Steam Leaderboards.
Because each layout is newly generated, players must adapt their tactics on the fly, learning new choke points and enemy placements each run.
- Prioritise rapid map discovery to maximise point accumulation.
- Review your leaderboard position after each run to gauge improvement.
05 / THE GUIDE
Genestealer Biomorph Variations
New Genestealer variants feature biomorphs such as Fleshhook, Feeder Tendril, Acid Maw, scythe‑armed forms, and armored carapace types, each introducing distinct in‑game mechanics.
These variations require players to adjust targeting priorities and weapon choices, as some biomorphs possess higher armor while others deliver special attacks.
- Match high‑damage weapons against armored carapace variants for quicker removal.
- Consider aimed shots when confronting scythe‑armed Genestealers that can strike multiple times.
