About Space Haven

Space Haven puts you in charge of a civilian crew drifting through a procedurally generated galaxy, searching for a new home. You design and construct a spaceship tile by tile, shaping every hull piece, wall, door, and facility.

Beyond construction, you manage crew moods, health, and skills, keep oxygen, temperature, and power balanced, and lead away missions that can turn into ship‑to‑ship battles or alien encounters.

01 / THE GUIDE

Tile‑by‑Tile Ship Construction

The game allows you to place each hull segment, wall, door, and facility on an isometric grid, giving full control over the ship’s shape.

Every placed module functions—beds provide sleep, toilets handle waste, and noisy rooms affect rest—so layout directly influences crew comfort.

  • Consider locating sleeping areas away from high‑traffic zones.
  • Use the freedom to experiment with both symmetric and asymmetric designs.

02 / THE GUIDE

Life Support and Environmental Control

Life‑support modules generate breathable air, while scrubbers remove hazardous gases released by certain facilities or explosions.

Thermal regulators keep temperature stable and power nodes distribute electricity, allowing you to maintain safe conditions for the crew.

  • Monitor gas levels after adding new rooms.
  • Place scrubbers near sources that emit hazardous gases.

03 / THE GUIDE

Crew Skills, Traits, and Mood

Each crew member possesses a unique set of skills and traits that affect task performance and reactions to danger.

Needs such as food, sleep, comfort, safety, and social interaction shape mood; excessive stress can trigger mental breaks like venting or fighting.

  • Check mood indicators regularly.
  • Balance assignments to match individual skills and traits.

04 / THE GUIDE

Crew Combat and Ship‑to‑Ship Battles

Hostile encounters let crew use pistols, rifles, grenades, and other weapons, and enemies may capture crew members.

During ship‑to‑ship battles crew take battlestations, operate turrets, repair hull breaches, and manage shields to protect vital sections.

  • Assign crew to battlestations before combat begins.
  • Repair hull breaches promptly to limit gas exposure.

05 / THE GUIDE

Procedural Galaxy and Away Missions

Each playthrough generates a new galaxy filled with planets, asteroids, stations, and ships belonging to various factions.

Away teams can board derelict vessels or alien bases, salvage resources, and encounter story events that affect the crew.

  • Equip away teams with suits for vacuum exposure.
  • Scan unknown structures to locate hidden resources.
