About Songs of Syx
Songs of Syx is an Early Access low‑fantasy city‑builder that begins with a modest village and lets you develop it into a sprawling city‑state or empire. The game blends construction, resource management, and large‑scale real‑time battles, all while simulating tens of thousands of individual citizens, slaves, and soldiers. Each inhabitant has its own life, religion, fears and desires, and their interactions generate unique stories that differ each playthrough. The world reacts dynamically: day turns to night, climate and weather shift, and animal and human migrations flow across the map. Random events such as droughts, pestilence, raids, traders, and new discoveries can appear, influencing the stability of your settlement. Buildings require upkeep, and any disruption to production or standing can quickly spiral into unrest, as subjects will not hesitate to turn against an incompetent ruler. Citizens must be fed, sheltered, and provided with religious services, while the army depends on supplies produced by your industrial network. Battles can involve tens of thousands of units, and tactics such as encirclement are available; the outcome of these engagements directly affects the rise or fall of empires. Diplomacy, trade, and war with neighboring kingdoms shape your influence beyond your borders, and you can appoint or import nobles to manage aspects of production and standing, though each appointment carries the risk of betrayal. The title includes a built‑in level editor and Steam Workshop support, allowing players to create and share custom scenarios. Additional Steam features include achievements, cloud saving, and family sharing. Because the game is still in Early Access, the developers advise reading the EA clause and trying the demo before purchase.
01 / THE GUIDE
City Building
You begin with an insignificant village and place houses, streets, and plazas while meeting the basic needs of citizens, the state, and the army. Each new structure adds upkeep and can affect production if expansion outpaces resources.
The world reacts dynamically: night turns to day, weather shifts, and events such as droughts or pestilence can threaten growth. Planning for these changes helps avoid the spiral of collapse described in the game’s premise.
- Track upkeep versus income after each new construction.
- Prioritize essential services before adding decorative structures.

Real‑Time Battles
Massive real‑time battles can involve tens of thousands of individual units, each recruited, trained, and equipped from your city. Tactics such as encircling the enemy are mentioned as options, and the outcome directly influences the rise or fall of empires.
Every soldier requires supplies produced by your industrial network, linking battlefield success to the strength of your home economy.
- Maintain a steady supply of produced goods for your troops.
- Consider large‑scale tactics like encirclement when the situation allows.
