About Software Inc.
Software Inc. lets you purchase plots on a massive map and construct office buildings up to ten stories plus a basement. The free‑form system uses copy‑paste tools, so you can shape rooms without a fixed grid and add roads, bike racks, or parking for employee commuting.
After building, you hire staff for design, development, support, research, and marketing, then guide them to create software and hardware products. The simulated market is randomized, so product releases, patents, contracts, and stock trades determine how you compete against AI rivals or up to three human opponents.

Free‑form building system
You can buy individual plots and erect offices up to ten stories plus a basement. The system does not rely on a grid; instead, copy‑paste tools let you duplicate rooms and adjust layouts quickly, giving full control over floor plans.
Additional infrastructure such as roads, bike racks, and parking can be placed to improve commuting options. Amenities like coffee stations are also available, letting you customize the workplace environment beyond pure office space.
- Use copy‑paste to replicate frequently used room configurations.
- Add bike racks early to provide commuting alternatives.

Hiring and team organization
The game lets you hire employees for design, development, support, research, and marketing, then group them into teams. Each staff member has skills, demands, and specializations that influence how well a team functions together.
Team leaders can be delegated to oversee development cycles and human‑resources tasks, allowing you to focus on higher‑level decisions while the leaders manage day‑to‑day operations.
- Balance skill sets across teams to avoid bottlenecks.
- Assign a team leader to handle routine HR responsibilities.

Simulated market and contracts
The market is randomly populated, and your products compete against AI rivals. Selling software or hardware, taking contract work, creating patents, and making deals all affect your financial standing and market share.
You can also trade stocks and attempt to corner the market, with each action influencing the simulated economy and the competitive landscape.
- Watch competitor releases to time your own product launches.
- Diversify between software and hardware to spread risk.

Co‑op and PvP multiplayer
Up to three other players can join the same map, allowing cooperative delegation of work tasks, manufacturing jobs, and server hosting. This mode lets friends share responsibilities while building a joint company.
The game also supports PvP competition, where each player runs an independent company and competes for market dominance. Multiplayer works over LAN, online, and includes cross‑platform play.
- Define clear roles for each teammate to avoid overlapping duties.
- Use LAN play for lower latency when all players are on the same network.
