About Ships At Sea
Ships At Sea is a next‑generation maritime simulator that recreates Norway’s Lofoten region in a 46 km × 46 km open world. Players begin with small licensed boats and can progress to larger vessels while engaging in commercial fishing, cargo transport, and offshore wind‑farm support.
The title offers single‑player, online co‑op, and dedicated‑server multiplayer. Built with Unreal Engine 5, NVIDIA WaveWorks, and a physically based buoyancy system, it delivers realistic oceans, dynamic weather, fully interactive ship interiors, and modern upscaling technologies.
01 / THE GUIDE
Open World and Environment
The game world spans 46 km × 46 km and mirrors the Lofoten archipelago, including ports, harbours, islands, and maritime infrastructure. All locations are reachable on foot or by vessel, allowing players to traverse the region in multiple ways.
Dynamic weather generates storms, fog, rain, and changing sea states, and a forecast is provided. Players may also manually adjust weather settings, creating custom conditions for training or experimentation.
- Walk along coastlines to locate lesser‑known harbours before setting sail.
- Check the forecast before a long voyage to avoid severe storms.

Vessel Classes and Progression
Ships At Sea starts with smaller boats and lets players unlock increasingly capable vessels across multiple classes. Currently 13 boats and ships are playable, including the first Class 4 offshore wind‑farm support vessel.
Advancement is tied to career activities such as fishing, cargo transport, and service work; completing these tasks unlocks higher‑class ships and expands the range of jobs available.
- Begin with a modest vessel to become familiar with handling before moving to larger classes.
- Track which activities unlock new classes so you can target those tasks.

Company System and Multiplayer
Players can create or join a company, sharing resources and operating together on the same vessel or across multiple ships. The system works in solo, peer‑to‑peer online co‑op, and dedicated servers supporting up to 16 players.
Company members coordinate maritime jobs, manage a shared fleet, and collectively progress their maritime business within the shared world.
- Form a company with friends to divide tasks like navigation and cargo handling.
- Use the shared resource pool to fund fleet upgrades that benefit all members.

Maritime Activities
The simulator offers commercial fishing (jigging, longline, net), cargo transport with crane operation, fish‑farm support, lighthouse maintenance, vessel towing, fire response, and offshore wind‑farm tasks using Class 4 service vessels. Each activity uses authentic equipment and workflows.
Future updates will add ferry operations, crab and lobster fishing for Class 4 vessels, and later introduce new industries with Class 5 ships, expanding the range of maritime jobs.
- Experiment with different fishing methods to see which yields the best market price.
- Combine cargo runs with wind‑farm support to maximise earnings per trip.

Weather and Ocean Simulation
Ships At Sea uses NVIDIA WaveWorks together with a physically based buoyancy system to produce realistic ocean behavior and vessel handling. Dynamic weather includes forecasts, storms, fog, rain, and changing sea states that affect navigation.
Players can also manually control weather parameters, allowing custom scenarios for training or testing vessel performance under varied conditions.
- Observe how wave height influences steering to improve handling skills.
- Use manual weather controls to practice docking in calm versus rough seas.
