About Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town

Shin‑chan: Shiro and the Coal Town follows the Nohara family as they travel from the city to a traditional farmhouse in Akita. Hiroshi works nearby while Shinnosuke learns countryside pastimes such as fishing, bug catching, and bug catching under his grandfather’s guidance and vegetable growing with his grandmother.

A soot‑covered Shiro leads Shinnosuke onto a mysterious train that arrives in Coal Town, a Showa‑era‑styled settlement. There he meets a young inventor, helps the diner owner, and races trolleys, opening a second set of activities distinct from the Akita life.

01 / THE GUIDE

Fishing in Akita

Rivers in Akita contain a range of fish, from common catches to species described as hard to find. The description notes that players can experiment with different times of day and locations while fishing.

Each fish caught can be added to a nature‑book collection, allowing the player to keep a record of the species they have obtained.

  • Try fishing at several times of day to see which locations produce different fish.
  • Check the nature book after each outing to confirm which species you have added.

02 / THE GUIDE

Catching Bugs at Night

The groves and forest around the village host many bugs, and fireflies appear after dark, creating a magical scene. Some bugs are noted as unique to the village.

Captured bugs can be added to the same nature‑book collection, expanding the player’s documented wildlife list.

  • Explore after sunset to encounter fireflies and any night‑only insects.
  • Use the nature book as a checklist to verify you have recorded each bug you find.

03 / THE GUIDE

Invention Workshop

Coal Town features a young lady inventor who operates a machine that creates inventions from items found around town. Players work with her by supplying those items.

The inventions produced add a crafting element to the town’s activities.

  • Collect a variety of town items before visiting the inventor to see different invention outcomes.
  • Observe which supplied items result in which inventions to plan future material gathering.

04 / THE GUIDE

Menu Creation at the Diner

The diner in Coal Town is a social hub where the owner seeks new menu ideas. Players can provide fish or other ingredients gathered during his adventures to assist.

New menu items are added as a result of the player’s contributions, reflecting the ingredients supplied.

  • Bring freshly caught fish or foraged vegetables to the diner to trigger new menu suggestions.
  • Observe which ingredients the owner accepts to understand the types of dishes she creates.

05 / THE GUIDE

Trolley Racing

Coal Town offers a trolley‑racing facility where players can compete against townspeople on tracks that include jumps and battle‑style sections. Winning a race yields rare items.

Players may select different trolleys—from beginner models to faster ones—and can equip custom parts that affect speed, handling, or melee capability.

  • Start with a beginner trolley to learn track layouts before trying faster models.
  • Test custom parts that improve cornering if sharp turns feel difficult.
