About Sherlock Holmes The Awakened
In 1882, young Sherlock Holmes and John Watson follow disappearances across Europe and the United States. The investigation points toward a cult devoted to an ancient deity. Their relationship begins here as roommates, placing this Lovecraft-inspired case early in their association.
Frogwares revisits the story of the 2008 release using Unreal Engine. This version combines revised presentation with additional narrative material, side cases, and a system described as insanity gameplay. The Steam edition lists achievements, full controller support, cloud saving, and Family Sharing among its features.

Storyline
The plot centers on mysterious disappearances tied to a dark cult worshipping an Ancient God. Sherlock, a man of rationale and reason, collides with an otherworldly entity that defies all logic, and for the first time in his life he is truly afraid. The pursuit of the truth pushes him to the verge of madness, and it is the only story Watson will never publish.
The investigation leads through famous Baker Street in London, a haunting psych ward in Switzerland, and the perilous Louisiana wetlands, among other places. The narrative is a reimagining of the 2008 title, expanded with new content and side quests.
- Pay close attention to environmental details; they often hint at the cult's activities.
- Track the timeline of disappearances to spot patterns linking locations.

Insanity System
A key pillar of the game is fighting encroaching insanity while pursuing answers to questions that have no rational explanation. As Sherlock confronts Eldritch horrors beyond human comprehension, this unique insanity gameplay reflects his growing fear and the strain of the investigation.
The system ties directly into the narrative tension, reinforcing the theme of rationality versus the incomprehensible. It is one of the new mechanics added in this reimagining of the 2008 title.
- Expect the horror encounters to test your composure; the game is designed to be nerve-racking.
- Treat moments of dread as part of the story rather than a failure state, and let them guide your interpretation of events.
