About SHEEPO
Sheepo is a quirky metroidvania platformer where a shape‑shifting sheep‑thing explores an uncharted planet. The goal is to collect samples of every living species for an intergalactic database. To capture a creature, Sheepo locates its guarded unhatched egg, gets past the queen boss guarding it, and gains the ability to transform into that species.
The game emphasizes tight platforming, exploration, and a sprawling, non‑linear world. Players traverse mines, an abandoned mall, forests, sewers, and more, unlocking new movement options like digging, flying, and teleporting. Hidden feathers serve as currency for the lone shop in DeadMall, while Steam achievements, full controller support, and family sharing round out the single‑player experience.
01 / THE GUIDE
Shape‑Shifting Mechanic
Sheepo must find an unhatched egg guarded by a species’ queen to capture that creature. Each captured egg grants the ability to transform into the corresponding animal on contact, expanding traversal options.
Transformation is central to progression: new forms let Sheepo dig, fly, or teleport, opening previously inaccessible areas and encouraging backtracking with fresh capabilities.
- Observe each queen’s pattern before engaging; the egg is often near the boss’s core.
- Try revisiting earlier zones after gaining a new form to discover hidden paths.

Exploration & Platforming
The game offers tight platforming across diverse environments such as old mines, an abandoned mall, lush forests, and dingy sewers. Platforming challenges are varied but lack standard combat.
Exploration is rewarded with hidden rooms, shrines, ruins, and strange characters, encouraging thorough map coverage and curiosity about each landscape’s secrets.
- Take note of visual cues like unusual flora that may hint at hidden passages.
- Use the map’s landmarks to plan routes before committing to a difficult jump.

Creature Abilities
Each captured creature provides a distinct movement ability—digging, flying, or teleporting. These abilities are essential for reaching deeper sections of the interconnected world.
Switching forms on contact makes the gameplay feel fresh, as players continuously learn new moves and apply them to previously visited areas.
- Experiment with each new ability in a safe area to understand its range and limitations.
- Combine abilities (e.g., fly then teleport) to bypass complex platforming sections.
05 / THE GUIDE
Non‑Linear Map Design
Sheepo starts with a somewhat linear introduction, but the map quickly opens up, allowing players to choose their own routes. The interconnected landscapes support backtracking with newly acquired abilities.
This design promotes player agency, letting you decide which region to explore next based on the forms you have unlocked.
- Mark unexplored zones on the map to keep track of areas that require future abilities.
- Revisit earlier sections after gaining new forms to uncover hidden shortcuts.
