About Serious Sam Fusion 2017 (beta)
Serious Sam Fusion 2017 (beta) is a single launcher that bundles Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, and Serious Sam 3: BFE. Owners of any listed title receive the Fusion version of that game at no extra cost, gaining access to the new in‑house engine and updates.
The Fusion build adds modern platform support, split‑screen, full controller compatibility, a lightweight Steam‑cloud save system, and a shared multiplayer environment. VR versions are included, and multiplayer can mix VR and non‑VR players, though the beta may still contain occasional bugs.
01 / THE GUIDE
Central Hub Launching
Fusion acts as a single application from which all included Serious Sam games can be started. This lets players begin a level in The First Encounter and then move to a Serious Sam 3 map without exiting the program, streamlining the transition between titles.
Because the hub integrates the latest engine features, patches and upgrades apply uniformly across the bundled games. Owners who have multiple titles therefore receive a consistent update experience from one location.
- Use the hub to test different game styles without reinstalling each title.
- Keep the hub updated to receive the latest engine improvements.
02 / THE GUIDE
Cross‑Game Multiplayer
When servers are listed, Fusion shows matches from TFE, TSE and SS3 together, so players see a single combined server list. This allows quick discovery of active games regardless of which Serious Sam title they host.
VR owners are able to join multiplayer sessions with non‑VR players, meaning mixed‑reality matches are possible without separate matchmaking pools.
- Check the combined server list to find populated matches quickly.
- Vote for a map from another title to experience varied level design.

Platform and Controller Support
Fusion runs on SteamOS, Linux, macOS and Windows, providing 64‑bit executables and Vulkan API support while DirectX9 is being removed. This broad OS coverage expands accessibility for players on different systems.
Full controller support includes Steam Controller, PS4 gamepads and older DInput joysticks, and the build also offers multimonitor, borderless window and split‑screen options for flexible hardware setups.
- Experiment with different controllers to find the most comfortable setup.
- Enable borderless window mode for smoother alt‑tabbing during split‑screen sessions.

Cloud Save System
Fusion introduces a lightweight save system that writes small files quickly to the Steam Cloud. Saves are stored in the cloud, are very small, and are saved much faster than before.
Because saves remain functional even if a level is changed by a patch or a mod update, players can retain progress across updates and retrieve it on any machine signed into Steam.
- Verify cloud sync after major patch installations.
- Use the fast save feature to capture progress before testing new mods.

Modding and Workshop
Fusion expands modding support with customizable weapons, items and improved scripting, including better handling of networked‑game scripts. A common Steam Workshop lets creators share mods that work across all bundled titles.
Additional improvements such as texture streaming and an upgraded physics engine further enhance compatibility, making it easier to experiment with new content in both single‑player and multiplayer contexts.
- Browse the shared workshop to find mods that work across multiple Serious Sam games.
- Test scripted mods in a single‑player session before joining multiplayer.
