About Scrutinized
Scrutinized puts you in the shoes of Luna Youngman, a criminal analyst who works from her home computer. Each night you examine digital evidence—photos, reports, texts, social media—and decide whether a person is a threat. While you file reports, you must also patrol Luna’s house, keeping windows shut and lights on to avoid two lurking killers. The game runs for ten nights, offering optional jump‑scare and difficulty settings.

Investigation Interface
The game’s core takes place in a simulated computer called the A.D.O.S system. Inside, you can open cell‑phone images, old police reports, purchase histories, text logs, social media accounts, and search histories with a single click. Each piece of data helps you judge whether the subject is dangerous.
A dedicated tool, the RootKit, appears as a virtual phone‑cracking utility. You slide a slider to input a code, attempting to unlock the suspect’s phone. The mechanic is simple to learn but can be challenging to succeed.
- Compare multiple data sources before deciding; patterns often emerge across reports.
- When using the RootKit, move the slider slowly to avoid overshooting the correct code.

Home Survival Mechanics
Outside the computer, you walk through Luna’s house each night. The environment reacts to simple actions: you can close windows and turn lights on. Maintaining these safeguards reduces the chance of the two malicious threats entering your space.
If you fail to keep the house secure, the killers may catch you, leading to a game over. Survival depends on staying vigilant and managing both the investigation and the home environment.
- Make a habit of checking every window before sleeping.
- Keep the lights on in rooms you plan to spend time in to lower risk.

Difficulty and Jump‑Scare Options
Scrutinized includes an easy mode that simplifies the mechanics and lets you read all reports without pressure. This mode is intended for players who prefer a more casual experience.
Jump scares are present but can be disabled in the options menu, allowing players who are faint‑hearted to enjoy the story without sudden shocks.
- Try easy mode first to become familiar with the report system.
- If jump scares disrupt your focus, turn them off for a smoother investigation.

Progression and Night Count
The game spans ten simulated nights. Each night you must submit reports and keep the house secure. Surviving all ten nights leads to the ending where Luna can finally relax on the beach she dreams of.
Failure to survive a night—by being kidnapped, killed, or otherwise caught—ends the playthrough.
- Treat each night as a separate checklist: investigate, file, then secure the house.
- Take notes on recurring clues; they often become crucial in later nights.
